About

Thiruvarangam Ranganathar Temple, also known locally as Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple or Bhuloka Vaikuntam, stands as a revered Divya Desam and ancient pilgrimage centre in Salem, Tamil Nadu.

Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, with Ranganayaki Thayar as another presiding deity, this temple is celebrated for its Dravidian architecture and its heritage status as a UNESCO World Heritage and living heritage temple.

The temple’s historical roots trace back to the Chola period, with significant contributions from the Early Chola, Pandya, Hoysala, and Vijayanagara rulers, making it a significant spiritual and architectural landmark.

Pilgrims visiting the Thiruvarangam Ranganathar Temple can experience a range of darshan options to suit their needs.

Free darshan is available for all devotees, while those seeking a quicker or more exclusive experience can opt for Special darshan (INR 20), Seeghra darshan (INR 100), or VIP darshan (INR 250).

The temple conducts daily poojas such as the Viswaroobam seva from 06:00 to 07:15 (INR 100), Quick Seva (INR 250), and Special Entrance (INR 20). Rituals are performed in both Sanskrit and Tamil, ensuring accessibility for a diverse group of devotees.

The temple timings are structured to allow devotees to participate in key rituals. The Viswaroobam seva takes place early in the morning, followed by evening aarti from 18:00 to 18:45, and evening seva from 18:45 to 21:00.

The best time to visit is during the early morning hours (5–8 AM), evening aarti, winter months (November to February), festival season, or the annual brahmotsavam. The Vaikunta Ekadasi festival, held during December-January, is a major event drawing thousands of pilgrims.
