Terms of Service

1. The Service

Devalayam is a directory of temples across India, offering visit information, user reviews, and the ability to book nearby hotels. Temple and hotel information is provided for general informational purposes and may not always be complete, current or accurate.

2. Accounts

To submit reviews or make bookings you must sign in with Google or with your phone number. You are responsible for the activity that occurs under your account and for keeping access to your sign-in method secure. You must provide accurate information and must not impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.

3. Reviews & user content

You are responsible for the reviews and other content you submit. By submitting a review, you confirm that it reflects your genuine experience and that you have the right to post it. Your review, including your display name, will be shown publicly.

You agree not to submit content that:

• is false, misleading, defamatory, abusive, hateful, obscene or unlawful;
• infringes the intellectual property or privacy rights of others;
• contains spam, advertising or another party’s personal information;
• is not based on a genuine, first-hand experience.

You retain ownership of your content, but grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and distribute it in connection with operating and promoting the Service. We may remove or edit any content, and may limit or suspend accounts, at our discretion — for example content that violates these Terms.

4. Hotel bookings & payments

Hotel bookings made through Devalayam are subject to the price, availability, and check-in and check-out details shown at the time of booking. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Razorpay; by making a booking you also agree to Razorpay’s applicable terms. Prices are shown in Indian Rupees (INR) and include applicable taxes as indicated at checkout.

Cancellations and refunds are subject to the cancellation window shown for each hotel at the time of booking. Where a paid booking is cancelled within an eligible window, a refund is initiated through Razorpay. We act as a platform connecting guests and hotels; the hotel is responsible for providing the accommodation and honouring the confirmed booking.

5. Hotel owners

If you list a property, you are responsible for the accuracy of your listing, its pricing and availability, and for honouring confirmed bookings. You grant us the right to display your listing on the Service. A platform commission may apply to bookings, as communicated to you.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, its systems, or other users’ accounts;
• interfere with or disrupt the Service, or scrape, harvest or bulk-download content without permission;
• submit fraudulent bookings or reviews.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, text, graphics and software (excluding user content and third-party materials), is owned by Devalayam and protected by applicable laws. You may not copy, modify or distribute it without our permission.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that temple, hotel or review information is accurate, complete or reliable. Any reliance you place on such information is at your own risk.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Devalayam and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of India for any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
