Murugan Temple Vayalur, also known locally as Arulmigu Subramanya Swamy Temple, Kumaravayalur, Adi Vayalur, and Sri Kumara Vayalur, is a revered ancient temple situated on the riverbank in the Kumaravayalur area of Vayalur, Tiruchirappalli district, Tamil Nadu.

This temple is a significant pilgrimage centre, renowned for its Dravidian architecture and historical roots tracing back to the Chola period, having been built by the Chola dynasty.

The primary deity worshipped here is Lord Murugan, and the temple also houses shrines for Adinathar (Lord Shiva), Adinayagi, Poyyaa Ganapathi (Lord Ganesha), Valli, and Deivanai.

Devotees can experience the spiritual ambience and rich traditions that are preserved in every aspect of the temple’s daily rituals and festivals. Murugan Temple Vayalur welcomes devotees for darshan with both free and special entry options.

Free darshan is available at no cost, while a special darshan can be availed for a nominal fee of ₹10. The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and again from 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM, allowing ample time for visitors to participate in the sacred rituals.

The best time to visit is during the early morning hours between 5–8 AM or in the winter months from November to February, when the climate is pleasant.

A series of poojas are performed daily in Tamil, including Kalasanthi at 6:00 AM, Muthalam Kalam at 8:00 AM, Uchikalam at 12:00 PM, Sayarakshai at 6:00 PM, Rendam Kalam at 8:00 PM, and Arthajamam at 9:00 PM.

Major festivals celebrated at the temple include Vaikasi Visakam (May-June), Thai Poosam (January-February), Panguni Uthiram (March-April), Adi Kirthikai (July-August), Thiru Karthikai (November-December), and Kanda Shasti (October-November), drawing pilgrims from across the region.

Reaching the temple is convenient from Tiruchirappalli city. From the Junction Railway Station or city centre, visitors can take Vayalur Road by taxi, auto, or bus, with local buses available from Central or Chatram Bus Stand. The journey is approximately 30–40 minutes (15–20 km).

The nearest railway stations are Tiruchirappalli Junction (15 km) and Tiruchirappalli Fort (12 km), while Tiruchirappalli International Airport is 22 km away. Ample parking is available at the temple entrance for cars and two-wheelers.
