About

Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, also known locally as Alamelu Mangapuram Temple or Alarmel Mangai Temple, is a revered ancient temple and pilgrimage centre situated in Tiruchanur, near Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.

Dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, the temple also enshrines Sri Venugopala Swamy and Sri Krishnaswamy, making it a significant destination for devotees seeking blessings and spiritual solace.

The temple is renowned for its classic Dravidian architecture and is managed and expanded by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), reflecting its ancient origins and continued importance.

It holds a special place among pilgrims visiting Tirupati, with its heritage status under the local panchayat and trust. Devotees can participate in various poojas conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit. The temple opens for darshan from 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM and again from 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM.

There are multiple darshan entry options: free darshan, special darshan (INR 200), and VIP darshan (INR 500), catering to the needs of all visitors.

The Suprabhata Seva begins early at 4:30 AM, and other notable poojas include Kumkuma Pooja, Ashtadala Pada Padmaradhana on Mondays, Sahasa Kalasabhishekam on the first Wednesday of every month (INR 1000), Kalyanotsavam, Unjala Seva (Dolotsavam) in the evening, and Ekanta Seva at 9:30 PM.

The temple observes a strict dress code: men are required to wear a dhoti (pancha) with a shirt or kurta, or traditional kurta-pyjama, while women should wear a saree or salwar kameez with dupatta, or churidar with dupatta. Casual wear such as jeans or shorts is strictly discouraged.

Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple is vibrant during festivals like Karthika Brahmotsavam and Panchami Theertham in November, Navaratri Festival (Dasara) in September-October, Teppotsavam (Float Festival) in June, Vasanthotsavam in April-May, Varalakshmi Vratam in August, and Radhasapthami in January-February.

The best times to visit are early mornings, during evening aarti, in the festival season, and especially during the annual brahmotsavam or winter months. Reaching the temple is convenient from Tirupati Main Railway Station (5 km), Renigunta Junction (10 km), and Tiruchanur Station.

Tirupati Airport at Renigunta is about 10 km away. Local buses, autos, and taxis are available for easy access. Accommodation options include TTD guest houses in Tiruchanur, budget and mid-range hotels nearby, and hotels in Tirupati city just 5 km away.

The temple provides various prasadams such as laddus and vadas, and free food (annadanam) is served daily. Limited parking is available a few hundred feet from the entrance, and the premises are generally wheelchair-accessible.

Mobiles, cameras, and electronic devices are strictly prohibited inside, with a free deposit counter available outside. For more details, darshan bookings, and updates, visit the official website at https://ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in or contact +918500721553.
