About

Sri Chengalamma Parameswari Temple is a revered pilgrimage centre located at the southern tip of Sullurpeta town, on the scenic banks of the Kalangi River in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh.

This ancient riverbank temple, built during the Chola period by the Chola Dynasty, stands as a testament to Dravidian architectural style and centuries-old devotion to Goddess Shakti, also worshipped here as Amman.

Locally, the deity is known by several names including Tenkali, Dakshina Kali, Chengali, Trikale Chengali, and Chengalamma Talli, reflecting the temple’s deep-rooted cultural significance in the region.

Pilgrims and devotees can visit the temple at any time, as it remains open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with rare closures only during eclipses.

The best time to visit Sri Chengalamma Parameswari Temple is during the early morning hours between 5 and 8 AM, at evening aarti, in the winter months from November to February, on weekdays for a less crowded experience, or during the vibrant festival season.

Major festivals celebrated here include Navaratri (September-October), Maha Shivaratri (February-March), Ugadi (March-April), and the grand Chengalamma Jatara (Brahmotsavam), which occurs once every seven years in May-June. The temple offers a range of darshan options to suit every devotee’s needs.

Free darshan is available, while Seeghra darshan and VIP darshan can be availed for a fee of INR 100 each.

Various poojas are conducted in Telugu and Tamil, including Abhishekam (8:00 AM - 8:30 AM, INR 350), Poolangi Seva (INR 550), Laksha Kumkum Archana (INR 100), and several other rituals such as Vahana Pooja for vehicles, Pongali Offering, Vastralankarana, and marriage booking facilities.

Special arrangements are available for Abhishekam Darshan, Antaralaya Darshan, and general archana, with prices starting as low as INR 2.

Devotees are required to follow a traditional dress code: men should wear dhoti or traditional pants with a clean shirt, while women are expected to wear saree, half-saree, or salwar kameez with dupatta.

Ample open parking is available near the outer premises, with wheelchair accessible entrances and basic ground-level access for ease of movement. Photography and mobile usage are strictly prohibited inside the inner shrine, though casual photography of the outer gopuram is generally tolerated.

The temple distributes traditional prasadam such as kumkum, turmeric, and consecrated edibles like pongali, with regular annadanam arrangements supported by donors. For further inquiries, devotees can contact the temple at +919281180899.
