About

Parasurameswara Swamy Temple Gudimallam, also known locally as Parasurameswaralayam or the Gudimallam Lingam temple, is a revered pilgrimage centre situated in the Swarnamukhi river valley, Gudimallam, in the Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh.

This ancient temple, recognized as an ASI protected monument, stands out for its unique blend of architectural styles, reflecting renovations and expansions by dynasties such as the Pallavas, Cholas, and Vijayanagara emperors.

The temple is especially significant for devotees of Lord Shiva, who is the presiding deity here. Other deities worshipped at the temple include Vinayaka (Ganesha), Durga, and Surya (the Sun God), making it a spiritually enriching destination for pilgrims.

The temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with the best time for darshan being early morning hours between 5:00 and 8:00 AM or during the cooler winter months from November to February. Entry for darshan is free, ensuring accessibility for all devotees.

Traditional and modest attire is strictly required for entry: men are expected to wear dhoti/veshti with an upper cloth or formal trousers and traditional shirts, while women should wear sarees, salwar kameez, or churidar with dupattas. Western or revealing clothing is not permitted.

A variety of poojas are performed in the temple, catering to different days and deities.

Notable rituals include the Sri Parasurameswara Swamy Rudrabhishekam on Mondays from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, Sri Valli Devasena Sametha Subramanya Swamy Abhishekam on Tuesdays, Sri Dakshinamurthy Pooja/Archana on Thursdays, Sri Ananda Valli Abhishekam and Kumkum Archana on Fridays, and Sri Surya Narayana Swamy Abhishekam on Sundays.

Each of these special poojas is priced at INR 500, while a general archana is available for INR 10. Rituals are conducted in both Sanskrit and Telugu, catering to a wide range of devotees.

The temple celebrates several important festivals, including Maha Shivaratri (February–March), Karthika Masam (October–November), Pradosham (twice a month), Ugadi (March–April), Arudra Darshan, and Navaratri, drawing pilgrims from across the region.

Prasadam such as vibhuthi, kumkum, chandan, and blessed laddu or puliyodharai is distributed, especially during major festivals. Basic open parking is available near the entrance, though modern wheelchair-accessible facilities are limited.

Photography is strictly prohibited within the temple premises and around the main sanctum. For further information or assistance, devotees can contact the temple at +91 94932 25725.

The Parasurameswara Swamy Temple Gudimallam remains a vital spiritual and heritage site for those seeking darshan and blessings in Andhra Pradesh.
