Sreekanteswaram Mahadeva Temple

Located in the Sreekanteswaram/Pazhavangadi area of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, this temple stands as a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan and blessings from Lord Shiva and other deities.

The temple is built in the traditional Kerala architectural style and is recognized as a living heritage temple, managed by the local panchayat and trust.

Alongside Lord Shiva, the sanctum also enshrines Lord Krishna, Dharmasastha (Ayyappa), Lord Ganesha, Subramanya (Murugan), Lord Hanuman, the Serpent Gods (Nagas), and Goddess Parashakti, making it a unique confluence of divine energies.

Several poojas are performed daily, including Nirmalya Darshan in the early morning, Ucha Pooja (Noon Pooja), Mrityunjaya Homam, Jaladhara/Ksheeradhara, Archana/Pushpanjali (priced at ₹10), Neerajanam & Pinvilakku, and Venna Charthu (Hanuman).

Rituals are conducted in both Sanskrit and Malayalam, catering to the local devotee base.

Major festivals celebrated here include Maha Shivaratri in February–March (Malayalam month of Kumbham) and Thiruvathira Mahotsavam in December–January (Malayalam month of Dhanu), drawing large crowds of pilgrims.

Visitors are required to follow a traditional dress code: men should wear mundu or dhoti (shirts are not allowed inside the sanctum), while women are expected to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or other conservative ethnic attire.

Photography is strictly prohibited within the inner temple complex, and mobile phones and cameras must be switched off or left outside the main entrance. Reaching the temple is convenient, as it is located near Thiruvananthapuram City Center.

From Thampanoor or East Fort, visitors can take Thakaraparambu Road toward Kaithamukku/Pazhavangadi. The temple is accessible by auto-rickshaw, taxi, or city buses, with the nearest railway stations being Thiruvananthapuram Central (2.3 km) and Pettah (2.5 km).
