Siddhavat Temple

This living heritage temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, with Goddess Parvati and Pataleshwar Mahadev also worshipped here. The temple is recognized as a significant pilgrimage centre, especially for those seeking to perform ancestral rites and rituals.

The temple is open daily from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with the best time to visit being early mornings (5–8 AM), late mornings, or during the serene evening aarti. Winters from November to February are especially pleasant for darshan and rituals.

Siddhavat Temple is well-known for its sacred banyan tree and its role in hosting important poojas such as Pind Daan & Tarpan (Ancestral Rites), Dugdha Abhishek (Milk Offering), and Pitra Dosh & Kaal Sarp Dosh Shanti Puja.

These rituals are conducted in Sanskrit and Hindi, with timings and prices clearly specified: Pind Daan & Tarpan from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM (₹500/₹1500), Dugdha Abhishek from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM (₹100/₹300), and Pitra Dosh & Kaal Sarp Dosh Shanti Puja from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM (₹1100/₹2500).

Morning aarti is held at 7:00 AM and evening aarti at 7:30 PM. Darshan at Siddhavat Temple is free for all devotees.

The temple observes major festivals such as Sarvapitra Amavasya / Pitru Paksha (September-October), Simhastha Kumbh Mela (every 12 years, March-April), Mahashivaratri (February-March), and Somvati Amavasya (any new moon on Monday), drawing pilgrims from across the country.

Reaching Siddhavat Temple is convenient: arrive at Ujjain city center by train or road, then head towards Bhairavgarh, about 4–5 km from the city center or Mahakaleshwar Temple.

Local auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws, taxis, and shared autos from Mahakal Chowk or Dewas Gate are available for the short journey to Siddhavat Ghat.

The nearest railway stations are Ujjain Junction (4 km) and Vikramnagar Station (8 km), while Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport in Indore (52 km) and Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal (160 km) are the closest airports.

Devotees are expected to follow a traditional dress code: men should wear modest clean clothing such as kurta-pajama or dhoti-kurta, while women are encouraged to wear sarees or conservative salwar-kameez.

Photography is generally restricted near the sacred altar and during rituals, and visitors are advised to be respectful. For accommodation, budget and mid-range guest houses are available near Siddhavat Marg in Bhairavgarh, while higher-end hotels can be found near the city center and Mahakal Lok.

Nearby attractions include Kaliadeh Palace, Shri Kaal Bhairav Mandir, Mangalnath Temple, Ram Ghat, Shree Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga & Mahakal Lok, and Shree Harsiddhi Mata Shaktipeeth Temple, all within a short distance from Siddhavat Temple.

Parking is available near the approach roads, with nominal fees, though the terrain near the ghat steps is moderately challenging for elderly visitors.

While there is no formal prasad counter or regular annadanam, devotees may offer sweets or rice balls, and food distribution sometimes occurs during holy days.
