About

Harsiddhi Mata Temple (Shakti Peeth) in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, stands as a revered Shakti Peetha and ancient pilgrimage centre, drawing devotees to its spiritual ambiance and architectural grandeur.

Also known locally as Harsiddhi Mata Mandir, Shree Harsiddhi Shaktipeetham, and Mangalchandiki, the temple is located on Harsiddhi Marg near Rudra Sagar Lake, adjacent to the renowned Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga complex.

Its Nagara (North Indian) architectural style and vibrant rituals make it a significant destination for seekers of divine blessings.

The temple is dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti/Amman, with sanctums also devoted to Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati, Karkoteshwar Mahadev, Goddess Mahamaya, and the mystical Sri Yantra.

The temple’s heritage traces back to the Maratha period, with extensive reconstruction by the Scindia dynasty and original foundations attributed to King Vikramaditya. Recognized as a living heritage temple, it is managed by a local panchayat/trust.

Darshan at Harsiddhi Mata Temple is free for all devotees, with entry facilitated from 5:00 AM to 10:00/11:00 PM daily. The temple comes alive during the morning aarti (7:00 AM – 8:00 AM) and the spectacular evening Maha Aarti & Deepstambha Lighting (6:30 PM – 7:30 PM).

Other poojas such as Kumkum Archana, Shringar Seva, Deep Daan, and personalized Sankalp Pujas are performed in Sanskrit and Hindi, allowing devotees to participate in a variety of spiritual offerings.

The best time to visit includes the evening aarti, winter months (November to February), festival seasons, and the annual brahmotsavam.

The temple observes major festivals like Chaitra Navratri (March-April), Sharad Navratri (September-October), and the grand Simhastha Maha Kumbh Mela every 12 years.

During such occasions, traditional prasad such as mishri, dry fruits, kumkum, and chuni is distributed, with bhandaras (community meals) organized on select festival days.

Reaching Harsiddhi Mata Temple is convenient: arrive at Ujjain Junction Railway Station (2 km away) or Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport in Indore (50 km). From the station, auto-rickshaws or taxis can take you directly to Harsiddhi Marg.

Those visiting the Mahakaleshwar Temple will find Harsiddhi Mata Temple just a short 350–400 meter walk away. Parking is available near the temple, though it fills quickly during peak times, and the premises are accessible for those needing assistance.

For accommodation, options like Hotel Abika Elite, MPT Shipra Residency, Hotel Govindam, and several trust-run dharamshalas are available within walking distance.

Nearby attractions include Shree Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, Mahakal Lok Corridor, Ram Ghat, Bhartrihari Caves, Sandipani Ashram, Kal Bhairav Temple, and Ved Shala.

Photography is strictly prohibited inside the main sanctum and prayer halls, but may be permitted in the outer courtyard during non-aarti hours. Mobile phone lockers and shoe-keeping counters are provided at the entrance.

For more details, pilgrims can visit the official website or contact the temple directly. The temple’s dress code encourages traditional and modest attire for both men and women, ensuring a respectful atmosphere for all visitors.
