Chintaman Ganesh Temple

Situated on the banks of the Shipra River in the Chintaman Ganesh area near Jawasya village, this temple is an important pilgrimage centre for devotees seeking blessings and spiritual solace.

The temple is recognized for its historical significance, having origins in the Chola period and later renovations attributed to the Paramara dynasty and Queen Ahilyabai Holkar. It operates under a panchayat or local trust and is considered a living heritage temple.

The main sanctum houses Lord Ganesha, accompanied by Riddhi, Siddhi, and Lord Vishnu. The temple’s daily rituals and poojas are conducted in Hindi and Sanskrit, with devotees participating in Chola Aarti at 7:00 AM, Bhog Aarti at 7:30 PM, and Shayan Aarti at 9:30 PM.

Special poojas such as Vahan Puja and Personal Archana/Sankalp Puja are also available, with respective fees. Traditional prasadam like Modaks, Ladoos, dry coconut, mishri, and fruit is distributed, and community bhandaras are organized during major festivals.

The temple is open daily from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with early morning hours and the winter season (November to February) being the best times to visit.

The temple comes alive during festivals such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Chaitra Fair, Sankashti Chaturthi, Deepavali, Holi, and Navratri, drawing large numbers of devotees.

Pilgrims can reach the temple easily from Ujjain City Center or Ujjain Junction railway station by hiring an auto-rickshaw, e-rickshaw, or taxi. The temple is approximately 6–7 km from the city center, about a 15–20 minute drive.

The nearest railway stations are Chintaman Ganesh Railway Station (2 km) and Ujjain Junction (7 km), while Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport in Indore is about 60 km away.

On-site parking is available, with wheelchair access at the entrance, though inner areas have uneven stone flooring and steps.
