Nelluvaya Dhanwanthari Temple

This temple stands as a significant pilgrimage centre, drawing devotees seeking blessings from its presiding deity, Lord Vishnu, and a pantheon of other deities including Lord Shiva, Lord Ganapathy, Lord Ayyappan, Varahamurthy, Cheruthevar (Lord Mahavishnu), and the serpent deities (Naga devatas).

The temple showcases classic Kerala-style architecture and is recognized as a living heritage temple managed by a local trust. Its tranquil village setting and spiritual ambiance make it a sought-after destination for darshan and pooja rituals.

The temple is open daily from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with the best times to visit being early mornings, during evening aarti, in the winter and monsoon months, and throughout the festival season.

A variety of poojas are performed at Nelluvaya Dhanwanthari Temple, including Ushapoojam at 6:00 AM, Pandeeradi Pooja at 8:00 AM, Uchapooja at 10:30 AM, Deeparadhana at 6:00 PM, and Athazha Pooja at 7:30 PM.

Other offerings such as Archana, Dhanwanthari Pooja & Homam, Udayasthamana Pooja, and Palpayasam are also available. The temple conducts rituals in Sanskrit, Malayalam, and English, making it accessible to a wide range of devotees.

Major festivals celebrated here include Swargavathil Ekadashi (Vaikunda Ekadashi) in December–January, Oushadhaseva Dinam with monsoon healing rituals in July–August, and Sthrothra Panchashika Day in February–March, along with Niramaala, Prathishtaadinam, Ashtamirohini, and Kucheladinam.

For darshan, entry is free. The temple enforces a traditional dress code: men are required to wear a mundu and remain bare-chested in the inner sanctum, while women should wear sarees, salwar kameez with dupatta, or traditional skirts and blouses.

Reaching the temple is convenient from Thrissur, Guruvayur, or Kunnamkulam, with regular KSRTC and private buses available.
