About

Mani Parbat, also known locally as Mani Parvat, is a revered hill temple and ancient pilgrimage centre situated in Kami Ganj, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

Dedicated primarily to Lord Rama, the temple also enshrines Sita, Lakshman, and Buddha, making it a unique confluence of Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

Recognized as an ASI-protected monument, Mani Parbat holds historical significance, with its origins linked to Emperor Ashoka, who constructed a Buddhist stupa here, and a legendary association with Maharaja Janaka.

Perched atop a hill, Mani Parbat offers devotees and visitors a serene setting for spiritual reflection and darshan. The temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, welcoming pilgrims for free darshan throughout the day.

Hindi is the primary language used for poojas, ensuring accessibility for most visitors. Modest clothing is recommended for both men and women, in keeping with the temple’s spiritual atmosphere.

The best time to visit Mani Parbat is during the early morning hours between 5:00 and 8:00 AM, or during the evening aarti, when the ambiance is especially tranquil. The winter months from November to February are also considered ideal for a comfortable pilgrimage.

A highlight in the temple’s annual calendar is the Shravan Jhula Mela, celebrated during July and August, drawing devotees from across the region. Reaching Mani Parbat is convenient for travelers.

The nearest railway station, Ayodhya Dham Junction, is just 2 km away, while Ayodhya Cantt is 8 km from the site. For those arriving by air, Maharshi Valmiki International Airport is located 15 km away, with Gorakhpur and Lucknow airports also accessible.

Upon reaching Ayodhya, visitors can proceed to the Hanuman Garhi area and take a local rickshaw or auto-rickshaw towards Kami Ganj or Naya Ghat. The final approach involves climbing steps up the hill, so visitors with mobility concerns should note that the ascent is steep.

Parking is available at the base or on nearby roads. Accommodation options abound within 1.5 km of Mani Parbat, including dharamshalas, ashrams, and hotels such as Dev Paradise Ayodhya and Aviral Seva Dham.

While there is no official prasadam or annadanam, visitors may bring their own offerings or purchase from local vendors. Photography is permitted and encouraged, allowing devotees to capture the scenic beauty and spiritual ambiance of this ancient site.

Mani Parbat’s location in Ayodhya places it close to several renowned attractions, including Hanuman Garhi, Ram ki Paidi, Saryu Ghat (Naya Ghat), Kanak Bhawan, and the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, all within a short distance. This makes Mani Parbat an essential destination for pilgrims and travelers exploring the spiritual heritage of Ayodhya.
