About

Birla Mandir in Ayodhya, also known locally as Shri Ram Janaki Birla Temple or Birla Shree Sita Ram Mandir, stands as a prominent pilgrimage centre in the Sai Nagar area of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

Built by the Birla family in a striking Nagara (North Indian) architectural style, this modern temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Rama, with Goddess Sita also worshipped here.

The temple’s serene ambiance and elegant design attract devotees and visitors seeking spiritual solace and a glimpse of Ayodhya’s vibrant religious life. The temple is open for darshan from 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM and again from 2:00 PM to 9:30 PM, making it convenient for pilgrims to plan their visit.

Both free darshan and special darshan options are available, ensuring a comfortable experience for all devotees. Daily poojas and aartis are conducted in Hindi and Sanskrit, with Mangala Aarti at 4:00 AM, Shringar Aarti at 6:15 AM, and Shayan Aarti at 10:00 PM.

The temple becomes especially lively during festivals such as Ram Navami (March-April), Diwali (Deepotsav, October-November), Holi (February-March), Krishna Janmashtami, and Gita Jayanti, when special prasadam is offered to devotees.

For those planning their trip, the best time to visit Birla Mandir is during the morning hours (8 AM–12 PM), evening aarti, winter months (November to February), or the festival season.

Modest traditional attire is recommended for both men and women, with shorts, sleeveless tops, and beachwear to be avoided. Reaching Birla Mandir is convenient, with Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station just 1.5 km away—accessible via e-rickshaw or auto-rickshaw in about 10–15 minutes.

From Ayodhya Cantt Station, the temple is approximately 10 km away and can be reached by taxi or auto-rickshaw. E-rickshaws are considered the most efficient mode of transport within Ayodhya.

The nearest airports are Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya and Lucknow International Airport, about 130 km away. Accommodation options include the Birla Dharamshala and various hotels and guesthouses in Sai Nagar and Ramkot areas.

The temple premises offer wheelchair accessibility, shoe lockers, and free lockers for valuables. While mobile phones, cameras, and bags are not permitted inside the main temple, free lockers are available at the entrance.

Parking for personal vehicles is not available inside the premises, but paid parking can be found nearby. Simple, low-cost meals are available at Birla Dharamshala and nearby institutions.

Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Temple (1 km away), Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan, and Saryu Ghat, making Birla Mandir a central part of the Ayodhya pilgrimage experience.
