Bada Ganpati Temple Indore

Dedicated primarily to Lord Ganesha, the temple also features the presence of Lord Hanuman, attracting devotees seeking blessings and spiritual solace. The temple stands as a living heritage site, reflecting its historical significance from the Maratha period.

It was built by Pandit Narayana Dadhich with the patronage of the Holkar Dynasty during the reign of Queen Ahilya Bai Holkar. Bada Ganpati Temple is easily accessible from the heart of Indore. Visitors can arrive in Indore via flight, train, or road.

The temple is about 3.5 km from Indore Junction (INDB) and 3 km from Laxmibai Nagar Railway Station (LMNR). For those flying in, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport (IDR) is just 5 km away.

Entry for darshan is free for all visitors. The daily aarti is performed in the morning from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM and in the evening from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with rituals conducted in Hindi and Sanskrit.

Devotees visiting during Ganesh Chaturthi (August–September) and Sankashti Chaturthi (every lunar month) can witness special celebrations and receive traditional prasad such as laddus and modaks. While large-scale annadanam is not a regular feature, it is organized during major festivals.

Visitors are advised to follow the dress code: men should wear traditional or modest formal clothing, while women are expected to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or modest kurtis covering shoulders and knees. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the shrine and near the main idol.
