About

Vemulavada Rajarajeswara Swami Temple, located in Gandhi Nagar, Vemulawada, Rajanna Sircilla district of Telangana, is a revered pilgrimage centre dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva.

This ancient temple, also known locally as Rajarajeswara Swami Temple, Rajanna Temple, Dakshina Kasi, Harihara Kshetram, and Bhaskara Kshethram, stands as a living heritage site with a rich legacy attributed to the Vemulavada Chalukyas, possibly Raja Narendra or the Chalukya dynasty.

Its architecture reflects a mixed and renovated style, blending historical elements with contemporary renovations.

The temple is a prominent destination for devotees seeking darshan of Lord Shiva and several other deities enshrined within its premises, including Raja Rajeshwari Devi, Sri Lakshmi Sahitha Siddhi Vinayaka, Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy, Sri Seetharama Chandra Swamy, Sri Anjaneya Swamy, Sri Dakshina Murthy, Sreevalli Devasena Sametha Subramanya Swamy, Sri Bala Tripura Sundari Devi, and Sri Mahisasura Mardhani.

Pilgrims can participate in various poojas and sevas such as Suprabatha Seva, Kode Mokku, Nitya Kalyanam, Rudrabhishekam (Monday to Friday), Kumkuma Puja, Anna Puja, Satyanarayana Vratam, Mahalingarchana, and Chandi Sahitha Rudrahomam.

Rituals are conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit, catering to a diverse group of devotees. The temple operates daily from 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with the best time to visit being early mornings between 5 and 8 AM, during winter months (November to February), or the festival season.

Major festivals celebrated here include Maha Shivaratri (February-March), Sri Rama Navami (March-April), Shiva Kalyanam, and Ugadi/Sri Ramanavaratri, drawing large crowds of devotees. For darshan, both free and special entry options are available, with special darshan tickets priced at ₹300.

The temple maintains a traditional dress code: men are encouraged to wear dhotis or pants/shirts (T-shirts are discouraged), while women should opt for sarees, salwar kameez, or other traditional attire. Reaching Vemulavada Rajarajeswara Swami Temple is convenient from various locations.

From Hyderabad (about 155–170 km), take NH44 towards Karimnagar/Sircilla, which is a 3.5 to 4-hour drive. From Karimnagar (36 km), regular TSRTC buses and private vehicles are available. The temple is just 2 km from the Vemulawada bus station, accessible by autos and cabs.

The nearest railway stations are Karimnagar (36 km), Kamareddy (67.7 km), and Warangal (100 km), while the closest airport is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, 170 km away.

Devotees can avail themselves of temple choultries, dormitories, and several private hotels and lodges in Vemulawada and Sircilla for accommodation. Regular free food (Annadanam) is provided, especially during peak times and festivals, and Anna Puja is a notable ritual here.

Parking is available both privately and through the devasthanam around the temple complex. Photography is not allowed inside the main sanctum or certain areas, and cell phone use may be restricted during crowded periods.

Nearby attractions include Bhimeshwara Temple, Dharmagundam (Temple Step Well), Nagunur Fort & Temples (30 km), Elgandal Fort (40 km), and Mid-Manair Dam (10 km). For more information, devotees can visit the official website or access online darshan services.
