Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple Dharmapuri

Recognized as a prominent pilgrimage centre, this temple is also known locally as Dharmapuri Kshetram, Dakshin Kashi, and the Banaras of South India, reflecting its spiritual significance in the region.

The temple’s Dravidian architecture and state heritage status make it a notable destination for devotees and tourists alike. The presiding deity here is Lord Vishnu in his Narasimha avatar, accompanied by Goddess Lakshmi.

The temple complex also houses shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva (Ramalingeshwara Swamy) and Lord Yama, offering devotees a unique opportunity for worship.

The temple’s historical period is unknown or disputed, but it is believed to have been rebuilt in the 17th century after destruction in the 15th century, with legendary associations to King Dharma Varma. The temple experiences vibrant celebrations during major festivals such as Brahmotsavam Jathara (March–April), Narasimha Jayanthi/Navarathri Utsavams (April–May), Vaikunta Ekadashi (December–January), Karthika Pournami, Maha Shivarathri, and Dasara Sharannavarathrotsavamulu.

Devotees can participate in various poojas, including Suprabhatha Seva at 5:00 AM, Abhishekam at 6:00 AM (₹150), Nitya Kalyanam at 10:00 AM, Sahasra Namarchana, Satyanarayana Pooja on full moon days, and special endowment poojas. Rituals are performed in both Sanskrit and Telugu.

Darshan options include free darshan, special darshan (₹50), VIP darshan, and seeghra darshan (₹100). Traditional attire is required: men should wear dhoti, kurta-pyjama, or trousers with shirts, while women are expected to wear sarees, chudidhar, or salwar kameez.
