Ramappa Temple Palampet

Revered for its dedication to Lord Shiva, and with Lord Vishnu also worshipped here, this temple is celebrated as an ASI-protected monument and holds the prestigious status of a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Built by Recherla Rudra, the general of Kakatiya king Ganapati Deva, Ramappa Temple is a living heritage temple that continues to draw devotees and history enthusiasts alike. The temple welcomes visitors daily from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, offering free darshan to all devotees.

Traditional attire is recommended; men are encouraged to wear dhotis or trousers and shirts, while women should opt for sarees, salwar kameez, or other modest clothing.

The serene atmosphere of the temple is best experienced during the early morning hours between 5 and 8 AM, or during the winter months from November to February, when the weather is pleasant for exploration and worship.

Devotees can participate in various poojas such as Abhishekam, Archana, and special pujas conducted on Mondays and during the auspicious Kartika month. Rituals are performed in Telugu, maintaining the temple’s regional and cultural authenticity.

Major festivals celebrated here include Maha Shivaratri in February-March, Kakatiya Utsavam in October, and Kartika Masam from October to November, drawing large gatherings for spiritual festivities.

During these occasions, Annadanam (free food) is organized, and daily prasadam is available for visitors. Reaching Ramappa Temple is convenient via multiple routes. From Hyderabad, travelers can take NH163 towards Warangal, pass Hanamkonda, proceed to Mulugu, and then turn towards Palampet.

Those coming from Warangal can reach Hanamkonda, take an RTC bus or shared jeep to Mulugu, and then use local transport such as auto-rickshaws to arrive at the temple. Public transport options include buses to Hanamkonda or Warangal, followed by onward connections to Mulugu and Palampet.

The nearest railway stations are Kazipet Junction (56 km) and Warangal Railway Station (65 km), while Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad is about 230 km away.
