Vazhappally Maha Siva Temple

Renowned for its Kerala-style architecture and spiritual ambience, the temple is often referred to as Dakshina Kailasam, reflecting its importance among devotees of Lord Shiva.

The presiding deity here is Lord Shiva, with the sanctum also housing shrines for Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganapathi, Lord Dakshinamoorthy, Lord Parasurama, Lord Sastha (Ayyappan), Nagaraja, and Rakshas.

Reaching the temple is convenient. Arrive at Changanassery via Main Central (MC) Road or Alappuzha-Changanassery Road.

From the bus stand or railway station, travel 3 km west towards Vazhappally, then hire an auto-rickshaw or take a local bus to Mathumoola bus stop or the temple entry road, followed by a short walk. The nearest railway stations are Changanassery (3 km), Tiruvalla (9 km), and Kottayam (18 km).

Cochin International Airport (103 km) and Trivandrum International Airport (118 km) are the closest airports. Parking is available near the temple, with ground-level pathways for easy access.

Devotees receive prasadam such as Vazhappally Ganapathi Appam (Ottayappam), vibhuthi, and chandanam daily, with annadanam organized during major festivals. Photography is strictly prohibited within the temple premises, and electronic devices must be switched off or deposited outside the core zone.
