Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga Temple

Dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, the temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and holds immense spiritual significance for devotees.

The sanctum also houses idols of Brahma, Vishnu, Ganga Devi, Jaleswara, Rameswara, Gautameswara, Kedarnath, Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Parashurama, and Lakshmi Narayana, making it a unique confluence of divine energies.

The temple, an ASI-protected monument, dates back to the Maratha period and was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao (Nana Saheb) with later renovations by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar.

Its location on the banks of the sacred Godavari River, close to the Kushavarta Kund, adds to its sanctity and draws pilgrims year-round.

The best time to visit Trimbakeshwar is during the early morning hours (5–8 AM), in the winter months from November to February, the monsoon season from June to September, or during major festivals. The temple is open daily from 5:30 AM to 9:00 PM.

Darshan options include free darshan, special darshan (INR 200), and VIP darshan (INR 2500). For rituals and poojas, devotees can participate in Brahma Puja (7:00–8:30 AM), Madhyan/Mahadev Puja (1:00–1:30 PM), and Vishnu Puja & Evening Aarti (7:00–8:30 PM).

The Shiva Golden Crown (Suvarna Mukut) is displayed on Mondays and special days from 4:30 to 5:30 PM.

Special poojas such as Rudrabhishek/Jalabhishek (INR 1100), Kaal Sarp Dosh Nivaran Puja (INR 1500), Narayan Nagbali Puja (INR 5500), Tripindi Shradha/Pitra Dosh Puja (INR 2100), and Maha Mrityunjay Mantra Jaap (INR 14000) are also performed in Sanskrit, Marathi, and Hindi.

Major festivals celebrated here include Mahashivaratri (February–March), Shravan Month & Shravan Somvars (July–August), Gudhi Padva (March–April), Ganesh Chaturthi (August–September), Tripurari Pournima & Kartik Festivals (November), and the Sinhastha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years.

Reaching Trimbakeshwar is convenient: arrive at Nashik city or Nashik Road by train, air, or road, then travel 28–30 km west to Trimbak via MST bus, taxi, or shared auto. The temple is a short 100–200 meter walk from the bus stand.

Nashik Road Railway Station (39 km) and Nashik Airport (40 km) are the nearest transport hubs. Pilgrim accommodation is available at Shri Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan, Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust Bhakta Niwas, Hotel Dhruv Palace, Hotel Rio Inn, and other local lodges.

Paid parking is available 0.5 km from the temple gates, with partial wheelchair access at the outer gates and courtyards. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the temple and sanctum, and lockers are provided near the entry gates.
