Teli Ka Mandir

Situated within the historic Gwalior Fort complex in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, this temple is recognized as an ASI-protected monument and is celebrated for its unique mixed and renovated architectural style.

The temple also enshrines other deities, including Garuda, Lakulisha, Matrikas, Ganga, and Yamuna, making it a significant site for devotees and history enthusiasts alike.

The temple’s origins are attributed to the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty, likely during the reign of Mihira Bhoja in the 8th–9th century CE, although the exact historical period remains disputed.

Its location atop the Gwalior Fort hill offers not only spiritual solace but also panoramic views of the surrounding city and nearby attractions such as Sas Bahu Ka Mandir, Man Mandir Palace, Gopachal Parvat, Gujari Mahal, Jai Vilas Palace and Museum, and the Sun Temple—all within a 5 km radius.

Teli Ka Mandir welcomes visitors every day from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The best time to visit is during the winter months from November to February, or in the early morning hours between 5 and 8 AM for a peaceful darshan experience.

Entry for darshan is available with a nominal fee of INR 20, and the temple observes major Hindu festivals such as Maha Shivaratri (February–March) and Diwali (October–November), attracting pilgrims and tourists during these auspicious times. Reaching Teli Ka Mandir is convenient.

Travelers can arrive in Gwalior city by rail, air, or road. The nearest railway stations are Gwalior Junction (5 km) and Birlanagar Junction (6 km), while Gwalior Airport is just 8 km away. From the city, visitors can hire auto-rickshaws, taxis, or app-based cabs to the fort.

Access to the temple involves ascending the fort via Urwai Gate or Alamgir Gate, followed by a short walk along paved pathways within the fort complex.

For accommodation, there are multiple hotels nearby, including Park Inn by Radisson, Clarks Inn Suites, Radisson Hotel, and MPT Tansen Residency, offering a range of options from budget to upscale, all within a 10–15 minute cab ride from the fort.

Designated parking and wheelchair-accessible entrances are available near the main fort entry, though visitors should note that stone pathways and steps near the temple may be uneven. Photography is permitted for personal use, but professional video or tripod setups may require prior ASI permission.
