About

Srivaikuntam Kalyana Venkateswara Temple, also known locally as Srivaikuntanathan Perumal Temple, Kallapiran Temple, and Sri Vaikuntam Temple, is a revered pilgrimage centre dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

This ancient temple is situated on the scenic banks of the Tamiraparani River in Srivaikuntam, Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu. Renowned as one of the celebrated Divya Desams, it attracts devotees from across the region seeking darshan of the presiding deity.

The temple exemplifies Dravidian architecture and stands as a living heritage temple, drawing visitors not only for its spiritual significance but also for its architectural grandeur.

The sanctum and the temple complex are adorned with intricate carvings and traditional design elements, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu. Devotees can participate in free darshan during the temple’s open hours, which are from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM and again from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Poojas and rituals are conducted in both Tamil and Sanskrit, providing a deeply immersive spiritual experience.

The best time to visit the Srivaikuntam Kalyana Venkateswara Temple is during the early morning hours between 5 and 8 AM, during the evening aarti, or in the winter months from November to February.

The temple becomes especially vibrant during festival seasons, with major celebrations like Vaikunta Ekadasi in December-January and the Annual Brahmotsavam in March-April (Panguni).

Visitors are requested to adhere to the traditional dress code: men should wear a dhoti (veshti) with an upper cloth (angavastram) or formal pants and shirts, while women are expected to wear sarees or churidar/salwar kameez with a dupatta.

Western attire is discouraged to maintain the sanctity of the temple environment. Reaching the temple is convenient, with Srivaikuntam Railway Station nearby and Tirunelveli Junction about 30 km away. Tuticorin (Thoothukudi) Airport is the closest airport, located 23 km from the temple.

The temple is easily accessible by road from Tirunelveli and Tuticorin, with regular buses and taxis available. It is centrally located in Srivaikuntam town, within walking distance from the local bus stand.

Accommodation options include small guesthouses and lodges in Srivaikuntam, while more extensive facilities can be found in Tirunelveli or Tuticorin, approximately 30–35 km away. Parking near the temple is limited, but the premises are wheelchair accessible to the outer precincts.

Photography is not permitted inside the main sanctum, and visitors are advised to keep mobile phones on silent mode in the outer areas.

Nearby attractions include the Srivaikundam Dam, Irattai Tirupathi (Nava Tirupathi 4) just 1 km away, and Then Thirupperai (Nava Thirupathi 7), making Srivaikuntam Kalyana Venkateswara Temple a significant stop for pilgrims exploring the sacred sites along the Tamiraparani River.
