About

Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple Vedadri is a revered ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, situated on the scenic banks of the Krishna River in Vedadri, NTR District, Andhra Pradesh.

Also known locally as Vedadri Narasimha Temple, Veda-adri Narasimha Swamy, and Jaggaiahpet Narasimha Temple, this pilgrimage centre is renowned for its Dravidian architecture and its status as a living heritage temple.

The temple’s historical roots trace back to the Vijayanagara period, with construction attributed to the Vijayanagara dynasty and subsequent patrons.

The temple enshrines Lord Vishnu in the form of Lakshmi Narasimha Swami, and devotees can also offer prayers to other deities such as Jwala Narasimha, Yogananda Narasimha, Veera Narasimha, Saligrama Narasimha, and Lakshmi.

The temple is a significant destination for pilgrims seeking darshan and spiritual solace along the Krishna River. Darshan at Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple is available through both free and special entry options, with special darshan offered for a nominal fee of ₹10.

The temple is open daily from 5:30 AM to 1:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Early morning hours (5–8 AM) and evening aarti time are considered the best periods for darshan, especially during the vibrant festival season.

Several poojas are performed at the temple, including Abhishekam and Sahasranama Archana (available by booking for ₹200). Other popular rituals include Archana (₹51), Settu Pujalu (₹100), Thulasi Kunkuma Sahasranamarchana (₹50), and Prathyeka Archana (₹50), with services conducted in Telugu.

Major festivals celebrated here include Narasimha Jayanti in May, Brahmotsavam (a 10-day annual event), Ugadi, Tholi Ekadasi, Kartheeka Pournami, Dhanurmasam, Mookkoti Ekadasi, and Shivaratri, drawing devotees from across the region.

Visitors are expected to follow a traditional dress code: men are encouraged to wear dhotis or shirts with trousers, while women are recommended to wear sarees or churidars with dupattas.

Photography and mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside the main shrine, with lockers available at the entrance for safekeeping. Reaching the temple is convenient, with directions from Vijayawada via NH65 to Jaggaiahpeta, followed by local transport to Vedadri.

APSRTC buses and private taxis are available from Jaggaiahpeta, and the nearest railway stations are Chillakallu (10 km), Motumari (36 km), and Madhira (37 km). Vijayawada International Airport is 93 km away, while Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is 200 km from the temple.

For accommodation, pilgrims can choose from temple guest houses and local lodgings near the temple, with more options available in Jaggaiahpeta, 12 km away.

The temple provides a wide parking area managed by the Devasthanam, and the main shrine is accessible, though some walking and steps are required for hill shrines. Laddus or pulihora are typically offered as prasadam, and annadanam (free food) is customary during major occasions.
