About

Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple Narayanavanam, also known locally as Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Kalyana Sthalam, or Narayanavanam Temple, is an ancient pilgrimage centre located in the Main Bazaar/Temple Street area of Narayanavanam, Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh.

Revered for its spiritual significance, this temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara as the primary deity, with sanctums also for Goddess Padmavathi, Andal, Varadaraja Swami, Prayaga Madhava Swami, Parasareswara Swami, Veerabhadra Swami, Sakthi Vinayaka Swami, Agastheeswara Swami, and Avanakshamma.

The temple traces its origins to the Vijayanagara period and was rebuilt around 1245 AD by Narasimhadeva Yadavaraya, with later expansions by the Vijayanagara emperors and Penugonda Veerappa. Its rich heritage and architectural grandeur attract devotees and history enthusiasts alike.

Devotees can participate in various poojas and rituals conducted in Sanskrit and Telugu. The temple offers Archana and Harathi from 6:30 AM to 7:45 PM for a nominal fee, Abhisheka Darshan exclusively on Fridays around 6:00 AM, and the special Kalyanotsavam between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Darshan options include free entry and special darshan tickets priced at INR 5, 30, and 500, catering to different preferences for a seamless spiritual experience. The temple is open daily from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

The best time to visit is early morning (5–8 AM), during evening aarti, in the winter months (November to February), or during the vibrant festival season, especially the annual Brahmotsavam held in May–June and Vaikunta Ekadashi in December–January.

The Sri Padmavathi & Srinivasa Kalyanam and Pushp Yagam are also celebrated during auspicious intervals.

A traditional dress code is followed: men are encouraged to wear white pancha/dhoti or pyjamas with an upper cloth, while women should wear sarees, half-sarees, or Punjabi dress/churidar with dupatta or upper cloth. Shorts and jeans are discouraged near the sanctum.

Reaching the temple is convenient. Pilgrims can arrive at Tirupati or Puttur by train, bus, or air. From Tirupati, the temple is about 37–39 km northeast via the Tirupati-Puttur highway, accessible by APSRTC bus or taxi.

Puttur Railway Station is just 5 km away, with auto-rickshaws and local buses available. Tirupati Main Railway Station and Renigunta Junction are also nearby, and Tirupati Airport is 25 km from the temple.

For accommodation, budget lodges are available in Puttur, while more options such as TTD choultries, guest houses, and hotels can be found in Tirupati and Tiruchanur. Limited local options exist in Narayanavanam.

Parking is ample, with designated open spaces for cars, two-wheelers, and buses, along with wheelchair-friendly ramps and accessible parking. Devotees are offered prasadam like Sweet Pongal and Panchamrit, with puliyogare and laddus available at nominal cost.

Basic annadanam/naivedyam parcels are also accessible. Photography, video recording, and use of mobile phones or cameras are strictly prohibited inside the main temple premises and near the sanctum.

Nearby attractions include Sri Parasareswara Swamy Temple, Kaveripet/Karvetinagar, Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanur, Sri Govindarajaswami Temple and Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati, and the renowned Tirumala Venkateswara Temple.
