About

Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple Tripurantakam, also known locally as Tripuranthakeswara Temple or Tripurantakam Kshetram, is a revered pilgrimage centre nestled atop the Tripurantakam Hills in Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh.

This ancient temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, with Goddess Bala Tripura Sundari and Goddess Parvati also worshipped here. Recognized as a Shakti Peetha, the temple is a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking divine blessings and a tranquil atmosphere.

The temple showcases classic Dravidian architecture, reflecting the influences of various South Indian dynasties such as the Kakatiyas, Reddys, and Vijayanagara rulers.

Though the exact historical period of construction is unknown or disputed, the temple stands as a living heritage site, managed by the local panchayat and trust.

Pilgrims and visitors are drawn to its serene hilltop setting, making it a notable hill temple and an important part of Andhra Pradesh’s spiritual landscape. Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple is open daily from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with a brief closure between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

For the best darshan experience, early morning hours between 5:00 and 8:00 AM and the winter months from November to February are recommended. Darshan is available free of charge, and poojas are conducted in Telugu and Sanskrit, allowing devotees to participate in traditional rituals.

The temple celebrates several major festivals, including Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavams in February (Magha Masam), Karthika Masam in November, Makara Sankramanam Utsavams in January (Pushya Masam), and Kumbhothsavam during Chaitra Masam (March–April).

These festivals attract large gatherings of devotees, offering vibrant spiritual experiences. Getting to the temple is convenient. By road, state-run RTC buses or hired cabs/autos are available from Markapur or Vinukonda.

The nearest railway station is Markapur Road, located 49.1 km away, with further connections by bus or taxi. For air travelers, Vijayawada International Airport (Gannavaram) is the closest at 188.7 km, with onward travel by taxi or bus.

Accommodation options include temple choultries and guest houses in Tripurantakam, with additional hotels and lodges available in Markapur and Vinukonda. Pilgrims are also offered prasadam such as laddus, pulihora, vibhuti, and kumkum, along with daily free vegetarian meals (Annadanam).

Nearby attractions include the Srisailam Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, the scenic Nallamala Hills and forest ranges, and local reservoirs and check dams, making Tripurantakam a holistic spiritual and nature retreat.
