About

Sri Bala Balaji Temple Appanapalli, also known locally as Chinna Tirupati and Appanapalli Vaikuntham, is a revered pilgrimage centre situated in the village of Appanapalli, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, Andhra Pradesh.

Nestled on the riverbank, this ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara and stands as a living heritage temple, drawing devotees from across the region seeking darshan and spiritual solace.

The temple is renowned for its Dravidian architectural style, reflecting the grandeur and intricate craftsmanship typical of South Indian temples.

While the exact historical period of the temple is unknown or disputed, it is known that the original small shrine was established by Shankhadacharyulu, with major expansions later undertaken by Koppaka Krishnayya.

Over the years, Sri Bala Balaji Temple has evolved into a significant spiritual hub, often referred to as Chinna Tirupati due to its association with Lord Venkateswara, reminiscent of the famed Tirupati temple.

Devotees visiting the temple can participate in various poojas, including Abhishekam, priced at INR 100, and Sahasranamarchana, available for INR 500.

For darshan, the temple offers multiple entry types: free darshan with no fee, and special darshan options priced at INR 50 and INR 100, allowing pilgrims to choose according to their preference.

The temple operates with specific timings: from Monday to Friday, it is open from 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 8:00 PM. On weekends, timings start earlier, with the temple opening at 5:00 or 5:30 AM and closing at 1:00 PM, then reopening from 2:00 or 2:30 PM until late evening.

The best time to visit is during winter (November to February), especially in the early morning or morning hours, and on weekdays when the temple is less crowded.

A traditional dress code is observed, with men expected to wear dhotis, kurtas, or shirts and trousers, while shorts and western attire are discouraged. Women are encouraged to wear sarees, half-sarees, or Punjabi suits/churidars with dupattas.

Sri Bala Balaji Temple provides dedicated parking and wheelchair-accessible entrances, ensuring convenience for all visitors. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the main sanctum but is allowed in the outer premises except near the deity.

The temple is also known for its Nitya Annadanam scheme, offering free daily feeding to devotees since the 1970s. For further information or assistance, visitors can contact the temple at 08862239562.
