Sri Amaralingeswaraswami Temple

This ancient Pancharama kshetra is a revered pilgrimage centre, celebrated for its Dravidian architecture and spiritual significance.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, worshipped here as Sri Amaralingeswara Swamy, and is also home to several other deities including Goddess Bala Chamundika, Kshetra Palaka Kaala Bhairava, Srisaila Mallikarjuna, Kashi Vishweswarar, Srikalahasteswarar, Chandiswara, and Lord Vishnu as Venu Gopala Swamy.

The temple welcomes devotees daily from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The best time to visit is during the winter months (November to February), the festival season, early mornings between 5 and 8 AM, or on weekdays for a more peaceful darshan experience.

The temple enforces a traditional dress code: men are expected to wear dhoti and kurta or trousers with a collared shirt, while women should opt for saree, half-saree, or modest salwar kameez. Short dresses and sleeveless or revealing outfits are not permitted.

Darshan options at Sri Amaralingeswaraswami Temple include free darshan, special darshan (₹20/₹50), and VIP darshan (₹100/₹200). Special poojas such as Astottaram for Bala Chamundika (₹100) and Eka Rudrabhishekam for Sri Amareswara Swamy (₹200) are available.

Rituals and poojas are conducted in Sanskrit, Telugu, Hindi, and English, making the experience accessible to a wide range of devotees. The temple is especially vibrant during Maha Shivaratri (February–March), Navaratri (September–October), Karthika Masam (October–November), and Kalyana Utsavam.

Daily prasadam includes Panchamrutamulu, Vibhuti, Laddu, and Pulihora, with free annadanam provided, particularly during festivals. Reaching the temple is convenient: from Guntur, drive 35 km north on Amaravathi Road (SH 79); from Vijayawada, it is a 40 km drive via Gollapudi or NH65.

APSRTC buses run frequently from both cities. The nearest railway stations are Pedakurapadu (18 km), Guntur Junction (35 km), and Vijayawada Junction (40 km). Vijayawada International Airport (Gannavaram) is 59 km away.

Amaravathi town offers budget accommodation options, while premium hotels are available in Guntur city. Visitors can explore nearby attractions such as the Amaravathi Stupa, Amaravathi Archaeological Museum, Dhyana Buddha Statue, and Panakala Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Mangalagiri.
