Kotappakonda Trikoteswara Swami Temple

Known locally as Trikoota Hills, Trikootadri, Kotappa Konda, or simply Kotappakonda, this pilgrimage centre is a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan and blessings of Lord Shiva and other deities such as Dakshinamurthy, Paata Kotayya, Papanaseshwara, and Gollabhama Anandavalli.

The temple showcases impressive Dravidian architecture and stands majestically atop the hill, accessible by a ghat road for vehicles or by climbing over 1000 steps from the base. Pilgrims can enjoy free darshan, with the temple open from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and again from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The best time to visit Kotappakonda Trikoteswara Swami Temple is early in the morning between 5 and 8 AM, during the winter months from November to February, or during the vibrant festival season.

A variety of poojas are performed at the temple, including Abhishekam (6:00 AM – 12:15 PM), Mandapa Abhishekam, Ashtotharam/Archana, Annaprasana, and Panchaharathi (1:15 PM – 1:30 PM), with pooja services conducted in Telugu.

The temple observes a modest dress code: men are recommended to wear traditional attire such as dhotis or trousers, while women are expected to wear sarees, churidar, or salwar kameez.

Major festivals celebrated here include Mahasivaratri (Tirunallu) in February-March, Karthika Masam in November-December, and Arudrotsavam. During festivals like Mahasivaratri, devotees can partake in annadanam (free meals), and prasadam offerings are available throughout the year.

Reaching Kotappakonda is convenient with multiple transport options. From Guntur (50–62 km), take NH-16 toward Chilakaluripet, then proceed toward Narasaraopet and follow the local road to Kotappakonda. From Narasaraopet (12–13 km), taxis and APSRTC buses are available to the temple base.

The nearest railway stations are Narasaraopet (12 km) and Guntur Junction (50 km), while Vijayawada International Airport (Gannavaram) is about 102 km away. Parking is available at both the base and hilltop, and the temple is accessible by road and steps.

For accommodation, basic temple guest houses are available on the hilltop. Pilgrims can also find several hotels and lodges in Narasaraopet (12 km away), with more options in Guntur and Chilakaluripet (20–50 km).
