About

Sita Ki Rasoi, also known locally as Sita Maiya’s Kitchen or Sita Rasoi, is an ancient temple and revered pilgrimage centre situated in the heart of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

Located near Kanak Bhawan Road in the Rajkot area, this unique village temple is dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti (Amman), with sanctums also honouring Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata, Shatrughna, and Urmila.

The temple’s architecture style is distinct and stands apart from conventional forms, reflecting its deep-rooted local heritage and spiritual significance. Devotees visiting Sita Ki Rasoi can experience darshan from Monday to Sunday, between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM.

Both free darshan and special darshan options are available, making it accessible for all pilgrims. Poojas and rituals are conducted in Hindi and Sanskrit, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the devotional atmosphere.

The temple observes a conservative dress code: men and women are required to wear traditional attire with shoulders and knees covered, ensuring respect for the sanctity of the space.

One of the highlights for pilgrims is the free meals (Bhandara) offered to all visitors, typically served from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. In addition, many nearby ashrams provide food, making it a welcoming destination for devotees.

The best time to visit Sita Ki Rasoi is during the early morning hours (5–8 AM), late mornings (8 AM–12 PM), the winter months from November to February, or during the festival season, especially around Rama Navami in March-April. Reaching Sita Ki Rasoi is convenient.

From Ayodhya Dham Junction (2 km away), visitors can take an auto-rickshaw or taxi toward Ram Janmabhoomi or Kanak Bhawan. Those already in Ayodhya can easily walk from Kanak Bhawan or Hanuman Garhi, both of which are close by.

The temple is also accessible from Ayodhya Cantt railway station (5 km away), and the nearest airports are Maharishi Valmiki International Airport (12 km) and Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow (135 km).

For accommodation, pilgrims have a variety of options including dharamshalas, ashrams, and hotels near Hanuman Garhi and Kanak Bhawan. Notable choices include Kanak Kuteer Ayodhya and Bedi's Dream Land Hotel & Resort.

While there is no dedicated parking at the temple, organized parking zones are available near Ram Janmabhoomi, from where visitors can walk or use e-rickshaws. Photography is generally allowed in the temple complex, but should be avoided inside the sanctum or of devotees praying.

Nearby attractions such as Kanak Bhawan, Hanuman Garhi, Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Saryu Ghat/Ram Ki Paidi, and Lata Mangeshkar Chowk make Sita Ki Rasoi a central part of any Ayodhya pilgrimage. Managed by a local panchayat or trust, the temple continues to be a place of devotion and community for all who visit.
