About

Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Temple, also known locally as Shree Khatu Shyam Mandir or Shyam Baba Mandir, is a revered pilgrimage centre situated in Kotiyat, Moti Bagh, along SH 65 in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh.

This living heritage temple draws devotees from across the region who seek darshan and blessings at this spiritual hub. The temple is easily accessible from major cities; from Delhi or Noida, pilgrims can take NH9 (NH24) towards Ghaziabad and follow NH34 via Hapur to reach Bulandshahr.

Within Bulandshahr, the Moti Bagh area is well-connected by local autos, taxis, and e-rickshaws, making the journey convenient for visitors. The temple welcomes devotees with free darshan and observes distinct timings for summer and winter.

In summer, the temple is open from 4:30 AM to 12:30 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. During winter, the timings shift to 5:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The best time to visit is early morning between 5 and 8 AM, during the winter months from November to February, or in the vibrant festival season when the temple comes alive with celebrations.

A range of poojas are performed at Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Temple, including Mangla Aarti, Shringar Seva, Bhog/Rajbhog Pooja, Churma Offering, and Nishan Yatra. Devotees can participate in Shringar Seva for INR 5000, Bhog/Rajbhog Pooja for INR 101, and Nishan Yatra for INR 251.

All rituals are conducted in Hindi, ensuring accessibility for the local community and pilgrims.

The temple observes several important festivals such as the Falgun Mela (Lakhi Mela) in February-March, Ekadashi/Dwadashi Mela every month during Shukla Paksha, Nirjala Ekadashi in June, and the Birthday of Shyam Baba (Dev Uthani Ekadashi) in November.

During major festivals, free food (bhandara) is served, and prasadam such as churma, peda, coconut, and sweets are distributed among devotees.

Visitors are expected to adhere to a modest dress code: men are recommended to wear dhotis or kurta-pajamas, while women should opt for sarees or traditional suits. Photography is typically not allowed inside the main shrine area, preserving the sanctity of the temple.

For those traveling from afar, Bulandshahr Railway Station and Hapur Junction (30 km away) are the nearest railway stations, while Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi (90 km) and Hindan Airport in Ghaziabad (65 km) are the closest airports.

Accommodation options include hotels like City Palace and Prakash Regency, as well as local dharamshalas in Bulandshahr. Parking is available near the temple, though there is no large dedicated lot.

Nearby attractions include Raja Babu Mandir, Kali Nadi Bird Sanctuary (12 km), and Belon Temple in Aurangabad (20 km), offering pilgrims a chance to explore more of the spiritual and natural beauty of the Bulandshahr area.
