About

Vishvanath Temple Vrindavan, also known locally as Vishwanath Temple Vrindavan, is a revered ancient temple and pilgrimage centre dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Situated in the holy city of Vrindavan in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, this temple draws devotees and spiritual seekers from across India, particularly those on a pilgrimage to Vrindavan’s sacred sites.

The temple is easily accessible for visitors traveling from Delhi or Agra via the Yamuna Expressway (NH-44), with a convenient exit at the Vrindavan/Chhatikara junction. From there, pilgrims can follow the main Vrindavan road, typically Bhaktivedanta Swami Marg.

Local transport options such as auto-rickshaws or e-rickshaws are available near landmarks like the Chaar Dham Vrindavan complex or ISKCON Temple, with the final approach often made on foot or by e-rickshaw through the vibrant lanes near the Yamuna River or Nidhivan.

Vishvanath Temple Vrindavan offers free darshan to all devotees. The temple observes different timings for summer and winter: in summer, it is open from 03:30 AM to 11:30 PM and from 05:00 PM to 09:00 PM; in winter, the timings are 04:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 04:00 PM to 08:30 PM.

The best time to visit is during the winter months (November to February), especially in the early morning hours between 5 and 8 AM or during the evening aarti, when the atmosphere is particularly serene.

The temple is especially vibrant during major festivals such as Maha Shivratri (celebrated in February-March) and Shravan Maas (July-August), attracting large numbers of devotees who come to offer prayers to Lord Shiva.

Visitors are requested to follow the dress code, which requires both men and women to have their shoulders and knees covered. For those arriving by train, Vrindavan Station (BDB) is just 2 km away, while Mathura Junction (MTJ) is 12 km from the temple.

The nearest airports are Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Airport in Agra (75 km) and Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi (160 km). Accommodation options abound, with many dharamshalas, ashrams, guest houses, and boutique hotels located near Prem Mandir, ISKCON, and Chaar Dham areas.

Nearby attractions include Nidhivan, Shri Banke Bihari Temple, Prem Mandir, ISKCON Vrindavan, and Keshi Ghat, all within a short distance. Parking is generally available away from the crowded temple streets, though visitors should be prepared for narrow and busy lanes, especially during festivals.

Photography is often restricted inside the sanctum sanctorum, and professional cameras are generally not allowed, though mobile cameras may be permitted in some areas.
