About

Madan Mohan Temple, also known locally as Radha Madan Mohan Temple and revered as the Icon of Vraj, is a prominent pilgrimage centre situated in Bankebihari Colony near Kali Ghat, along the Parikrama Marg at Aditya Tila in Vrindavan, Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh.

This ancient hill temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Krishna, with Radha and Lalita Gopi also worshipped within its sanctum. The temple’s Nagara (North Indian) architectural style stands out, making it an important spiritual and cultural landmark for devotees visiting Vrindavan.

The temple’s serene location atop Aditya Tila offers a peaceful atmosphere for devotees seeking darshan and spiritual solace.

Free darshan is available to all, and the temple is known for its well-organized poojas, including Mangala Aarti at 5:00 AM (with seasonal variations), Bhog Aarti at 6:30 AM, and the Evening Aarti.

All rituals and poojas are conducted in Hindi, and prasadam is distributed to devotees following the bhog offerings.

Madan Mohan Temple observes a modest dress code: men are expected to wear long pants and shirts or traditional attire such as kurta-pajama or dhoti, while women should opt for sarees, salwar kameez, or long dresses that cover shoulders and knees.

The temple timings vary according to the season—during summer, it is open from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM; in winter, timings are 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The best time to visit is early morning (5–8 AM), during the winter months from November to February, or during the vibrant festival season when the temple celebrates Kartik Month (Damodar Maas), Radhashtami, Janmashtami, and Holi.

Reaching the temple is convenient: from Mathura (10–12 km away), visitors can take a taxi, auto-rickshaw, or local bus to Vrindavan, proceed towards the Banke Bihari Temple area, and then walk or use an e-rickshaw to reach Madan Mohan Gali near the Yamuna Ghats.

Vrindavan Railway Station is just 1.5 km away, while Mathura Junction is 12 km from the temple. For air travelers, Agra Airport is 75 km away, and Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi is 150 km distant.

Parking is not permitted up to the temple itself; visitors should park near Banke Bihari Temple or Kali Ghat and take an e-rickshaw, followed by a short walk or climb up Aditya Tila.

Accommodation options nearby include MVT Guest House & Restaurant, Maheshwari Seva Sadan, Nikunj Ashram, and several local dharamshalas and ashrams within walking distance.

For those interested in exploring further, nearby attractions include Banke Bihari Mandir, Nidhivan, Radha Vallabh Temple, ISKCON Vrindavan, and Prem Mandir.

Photography is allowed in the main complex but prohibited inside the inner sanctum; visitors are advised to follow staff instructions regarding cameras and mobile phones.
