About

Rangji Temple, also known locally as Shri Rangji Mandir, Ranganatha Mandir, Sri Goda-Rangamannar Mandir, and Shri Rangnath Ji Mandir, stands as a revered Divya Desam and ancient pilgrimage centre in Vrindavan, Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh.

Dedicated primarily to Lord Vishnu, the temple also enshrines Goddess Lakshmi, Goda Devi (Andal), and Garuda, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan and blessings.

Constructed during the British colonial era by Sri Rangadesik Swamiji with the patronage of Seth Sri Radhakrishnaji and Sri Govind Dasji of Mathura, Rangji Temple is celebrated for its impressive Dravidian architecture.

Its towering gopurams and intricately carved pillars reflect the grandeur of South Indian temple design, setting it apart amidst the sacred landscape of Vrindavan. The temple holds the status of a living heritage temple, continuing to attract pilgrims and visitors from across India and beyond.

Rangji Temple is conveniently located in the Goda Vihar area, near Vidya Peeth, Prem Mandir, and Attala Chungi. It is easily accessible from Vrindavan Railway Station (2.5 km away), Mathura Junction (11.5 km), and Mathura Cantt (10 km).

For those arriving by air, Agra Airport is 72.5 km away, while Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi is about 155 km from the temple.

Visitors can reach the temple by taking a taxi, E-rickshaw, or local bus from Mathura to Vrindavan, and then proceeding to Rangji Mandir or Attala Chungi via local transport.

The temple observes distinct timings: in summer, it is open from 5:30 AM to 10:30 AM and 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM; in winter, from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

The best times to visit include early morning hours, evening aarti, and during the winter months or festival seasons such as the annual Brahmotsavam and Sri Goda Vratotsav. Free darshan is available to all devotees.

The temple conducts poojas in Sanskrit and Tamil, with notable rituals like Balaji Abhishek (available on Fridays, special lunar days, and birth stars), Ashtottara Sata Nama Pooja, and Sri Goda Vratotsav Seva during Dhanurmasa.

Visitors are requested to adhere to the temple’s dress code: both men and women should wear modest clothing covering shoulders and knees. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the main sanctum and inner premises, though it may be allowed in the outer compound as per signage.

Prasadam is distributed daily during darshan and for sponsored sevas. For accommodation, options abound nearby, including Hotel Shri Radha Nikunj (near Prem Mandir), as well as dharamshalas and guest houses in Goda Vihar and the Banke Bihari area within 0.5–2 km.

The temple also offers dedicated parking, though it can be crowded during peak times.

Notable attractions close to Rangji Temple include Prem Mandir, Shri Banke Bihari Mandir, ISKCON Vrindavan, Nidhivan, Shahji Temple, and the sacred sites of Mathura such as Shri Dwarkadhish Temple and Shri Krishna Janmasthan.
