About

Sathyamangalam Bannari Amman Temple, also known locally as Bannari Amman Temple, Bannari Mariamman Temple, or Bannari Amman Kovil, is a revered pilgrimage centre situated in Sathyamangalam, Erode district, Tamil Nadu.

Dedicated to Goddess Shakti (Amman), this ancient temple stands as a living heritage site and is renowned for its Dravidian architecture, attracting devotees from across the region.

The temple is open for darshan from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, making it convenient for pilgrims to plan their visit. Early mornings, especially between 5–8 AM, and evenings during aarti are considered the best times to experience the spiritual ambience.

The winter months from November to February and the festival season are also popular among visitors. Devotees can participate in various poojas conducted in Tamil, including Kalashanthi in the morning, Uchikalam at noon, Sayaratchai in the evening, and Arthasamam at night.

Entry for darshan is free, allowing all devotees to seek blessings without hindrance.

The temple observes a traditional dress code: men are encouraged to wear dhoti with a shirt or formal attire, while women are recommended to wear sarees, churidars, or long skirts and dresses that cover the shoulders and knees.

Bannari Amman Temple is celebrated for its vibrant festivals such as the Kundam Festival (March–April, Panguni), Golden Chariot Festival, Turmeric Water Donation, Thiruvillaku Pooja, Maru Pooja, Diwali (October–November), Pongal (January), Tamil New Year (April), and English New Year (January).

These festivals draw large crowds and are marked by special rituals and community participation. Reaching the temple is convenient, with ample parking space and good road connectivity from Erode and Coimbatore.

The temple is about 14 km from Sathyamangalam, accessible via NH209, with regular buses from the Sathyamangalam bus stand. Erode Junction and Coimbatore Junction railway stations are both approximately 85 km away, while Mettupalayam station is 35 km distant.

The nearest airport is Coimbatore International Airport, around 80 km from the temple. For accommodation, the temple provides basic facilities for pilgrims, and several budget hotels and lodges are available in Sathyamangalam town, just 10–15 km away.

After darshan, devotees receive sand from the mound (pudhu mannal) as prasadam, and anna prasadham (free food) is served. Photography is generally not permitted inside the main sanctum. For more information, devotees can visit the official website or contact the temple directly.

Nearby attractions include Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary, Bhavanisagar Dam & Reservoir, Kodiveri Dam/Waterfalls, and Dhimbam Ghat Road, making this temple a significant spiritual and travel destination in Tamil Nadu.
