Ratangarh Mata Temple

Nestled near Rampura and Jorital villages in the Vindhyachal mountain range, the temple sits on the banks of the Sindh River, offering a scenic and spiritually uplifting environment for devotees.

The temple is dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti (Amman), with Kunwar Maharaj (Kunwar Ganga Ram Dev) also worshipped here. This ancient hill and riverbank temple is renowned for its mixed and renovated architectural style, reflecting its historical roots from the Maratha period.

The reconstruction or commissioning of the temple is attributed to Chhatrapati Shivaji, with spiritual origins linked to Princess Mandula and Kunwar Gangaramdev, children of Raja Ratan Singh.

Managed by a local panchayat trust, the temple has become a significant site for devotees seeking blessings and spiritual solace. Ratangarh Mata Temple is open daily from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM, making early morning hours (5–8 AM) an ideal time for peaceful darshan.

The temple is especially vibrant during the winter months (November to February), festival seasons, and the annual brahmotsavam.

Major festivals celebrated here include Navratri (Sharad and Chaitra) in March-April and September-October, and Bhai Dooj (Lakhkhi Mela) in October-November, when the temple hosts large gatherings and bhandaras (free community meals).

Darshan at the temple is free, and devotees can participate in the Morning and Evening Aarti, with rituals conducted in Hindi.

Visitors are expected to follow a traditional dress code: men should wear dhotis, kurtas, or modest attire, while women are encouraged to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or long kurtis with dupattas.

Photography is strictly prohibited inside the main sanctum, and mobile phones should be kept silent near worship areas. To reach Ratangarh Mata Temple, start from Datia Town and head towards Seondha Road.

After approximately 48 km, turn off at Charokhra village and proceed towards Ratangarh for another 4-5 km, crossing the Sindh River bridge to the temple parking area. The nearest railway stations are Datia (55 km), Jhansi Junction (70 km), and Gwalior Junction (90 km).
