Nrusinghanath Temple

Also locally known as Marjara Keshari or Marjara Kesari, this temple is a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan, pooja, and solace amidst the tranquil natural surroundings.

The temple’s architecture is a fine example of the Kalinga style, reflecting the region’s rich cultural heritage and earning it recognition as a state heritage site.

The temple complex is home not only to Lord Vishnu but also to local guardian deities, protective deities, and figures from the traditional Hindu pantheon, making it a vibrant centre of worship and community gatherings.

Daily rituals and poojas are conducted in Odia and Sanskrit, with offerings such as Annaprasan, Chuda Karana, Mitrata Stapana, Manaskamana, Bahana Puja, Asti Prabaha, and the Nitya Nivedya/Mangala Aarti.

Devotees can participate in free darshan, and the temple is open from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, making early mornings and evening aarti especially recommended for a serene spiritual experience.

The closest airports are Veer Surendra Sai Airport (Jharsuguda, 107 km) and Biju Patnaik International Airport (Bhubaneswar, 407 km). From Bargarh, visitors can take local buses, auto-rickshaws, or taxis to Padmapur and then proceed to Paikmal, which leads directly to the temple.

Visitors are expected to adhere to the dress code: men should wear traditional or conservative Indian attire, while women are encouraged to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or modest kurtis.

Ample open parking and wheelchair-accessible entrances are available, though some stone terrain may require assistance. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the main sanctum, but capturing the temple’s outer architecture and scenic surroundings is generally allowed.
