About

Naimisharanya Chakratirtha Temple, also known locally as Chakratirth Temple, Neemsar, Nimsar, or Nimkhar, is a revered pilgrimage centre situated on Chakratirth Road, near Lalita Devi Temple in Poorab Ward No 3, Naimisharanya, Sitapur district, Uttar Pradesh.

This ancient riverbank temple is dedicated primarily to Lord Vishnu, with sanctums for Goddess Lalita Devi, Hanuman, Vedavyas, Dadhichi, and Sut ji, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees of multiple deities.

Recognized as both a Shakti Peetha and a Divya Desam, the Naimisharanya Chakratirtha Temple stands as a living heritage temple under the care of a local trust. Its architecture is a blend of styles, reflecting centuries of renovation and devotion.

The temple is open to pilgrims daily from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with the best times for darshan being early mornings and during the winter months from November to February, as well as throughout the vibrant festival season.

Visitors can participate in the Satyanarayan Vratam, a special pooja conducted in Sanskrit and Hindi, available for a fee of ₹500. The temple offers free darshan entry, ensuring accessibility to all devotees.

Traditional attire is recommended for both men and women, with modest clothing and head coverings advised for women to maintain the sanctity of the premises.

The temple comes alive during major festivals such as the Holi Mela in March, Purnima gatherings on full moon days, and Pitru Paksha in September-October, drawing pilgrims from across the country.

For those planning a visit, reaching the temple is convenient: the nearest airport is Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, about 100 km away, and Kanpur Airport at 120 km.

Naimisharanya Railway Station is the closest railhead, with Sitapur Junction, Sandila, and Balamau Junction also serving the area. Pilgrims will find ample accommodation options, including dharamshalas, ashrams, and affordable lodges near Chakratirtha and Lalita Devi Temple.

Notable stays include Nimbark Prabha Sthali Naimish Dham, Naimisharanya Chardham Ashram, and Andhra Ashram. Parking is available nearby, though it can be crowded, and some entrances are wheelchair accessible.

Photography is generally allowed outside the temple, but restrictions apply within the inner sanctum. For those unable to visit in person, online darshan is available, allowing devotees to connect with the spiritual energy of this sacred site from anywhere.

Nearby attractions include Naimisharanya Tirth, Shree Ma Lalita Devi Mandir, Vyas Gaddi Sitapur, Hanuman Ghari, and Shri Sut Gaddi Mandir, making Naimisharanya Chakratirtha Temple a central point for a spiritually enriching pilgrimage in Uttar Pradesh.
