About

Dadhichi Kund Temple, also known locally as Dadhichi Ashram or Misrikh Teerth, is an ancient pilgrimage centre situated on the riverbank in the village of Misrikh, near Naimisharanya in Sitapur district, Uttar Pradesh.

This revered temple is dedicated to Maharishi Dadhichi and is recognized for its Nagara (North Indian) architectural style. The temple’s tranquil setting on the riverbank and its association with ancient traditions make it a significant destination for spiritual seekers and pilgrims.

The temple welcomes devotees daily from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, offering free darshan to all visitors.

The best time to visit Dadhichi Kund Temple is during the winter months from November to February, especially in the early morning hours between 5 and 8 AM, or during the morning (8 AM–12 PM) and evening aarti times.

Traditional and conservative clothing is recommended for both men and women to maintain the sanctity of the temple premises. Daily poojas at Dadhichi Kund Temple include the auspicious Aarti, performed at sunrise and sunset, creating a serene spiritual atmosphere.

Devotees also participate in holy bathing rituals in the Kund and may arrange for private havan or other rituals. Pujas are conducted in Hindi and Sanskrit, allowing visitors from various regions to engage in the spiritual practices.

Prasadam distributed at the temple includes holy ash, Tulsi leaves, flowers, sweets, fruits, and coconut. During special festivals, annadanam (community meal) is sometimes organized for devotees.

The temple celebrates important festivals such as Dadhichi Jayanti in July-August (Shravan), Kartik Purnima in October-November, and Makar Sankranti in January. These occasions attract pilgrims from across the region, enhancing the spiritual vibrancy of the temple.

Reaching Dadhichi Kund Temple is convenient by road and rail. From Lucknow, visitors can take the Lucknow-Sitapur Highway (NH-24/NH-30) to Sitapur, then proceed towards Neemsar-Misrikh via local roads, which takes about 2 to 2.5 hours by car.

From Sitapur Junction, shared jeeps, auto-rickshaws, or taxis are available to Naimisharanya (about 32 km), followed by local transport to Misrikh. The nearest railway stations are Misrikh/Nimsar Halt, Balamau Junction (25 km), and Sitapur Junction (32 km).

The closest airport is Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, approximately 92 km away. Open parking space is available near the Kund, and the temple is easily accessible by road.

For accommodation, basic guesthouses and dharamshalas are available in Naimisharanya, including Andhra Ashram, Lalita Devi Temple Guesthouse, UP Tourism Guesthouse, and local dharamshalas.

Nearby attractions include Chakra Tirth, Shri Maa Lalita Devi Temple, Vyas Gaddi (all about 12 km away), Hanuman Garhi, and Pandav Kila (around 13 km). Photography is generally permitted for personal use, though restrictions may apply inside the sanctum or when photographing devotees.
