About

Maa Patan Devi Temple, also known locally as Maa Patneshwari, Bari Patan Devi, and Maa Sarvanand Kari Patneshwari, is a revered Shakti Peetha and ancient pilgrimage centre situated in the Sadikpur, Chowk Area of Patna, Aligarh district, Uttar Pradesh.

The temple is dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti (Amman) and also enshrines Mahakali, Maha Lakshmi, Maha Saraswati, and Bhairav, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking blessings from the divine feminine.

The temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, allowing ample time for devotees to participate in darshan and poojas. Free darshan is available to all visitors, and rituals are conducted in Sanskrit and Hindi.

The best time to visit Maa Patan Devi Temple is during the early morning hours between 5 and 8 AM, in the winter months from November to February, or during the vibrant festival season.

The temple comes alive during major festivals such as Navratri (celebrated in Chaitra and Sharad/Ashwin), Dussehra, and Chaitra Panchami, which features the Peer Ratan Nath Shobha Yatra. During Navratri, large fairs are held, and food distribution is organized for devotees.

Visitors are advised to dress traditionally and modestly, in line with the temple's dress code for both men and women. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the sanctum, and cameras are generally not allowed within the temple premises, preserving the sanctity of the space.

Reaching Maa Patan Devi Temple is convenient for pilgrims traveling by train or air. Patna Junction railway station is the nearest railhead, located about 6 km from the temple. From there, local transport such as auto-rickshaws or taxis can be hired to reach Sadikpur, Chowk Area.

The temple is nestled in the narrow lanes of old Patna city, so visitors should be prepared for some walking. Jay Prakash Narayan Airport is the closest airport, approximately 10 km away.

Parking can be challenging due to the temple's location; visitors often park in front of nearby shops or along the narrow lanes. For accommodation, several small hotels and guesthouses are available near Patna Junction, with budget and mid-range options throughout Patna city.

After visiting the temple, devotees can also explore the nearby Ganges River, adding to their spiritual journey. Fruits and sweetmeats are offered as prasadam, especially during festivals, making a visit to Maa Patan Devi Temple a fulfilling experience for pilgrims and visitors alike.
