Karnagarh Mahamaya Temple

This ancient and royal temple is dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti (Amman), with Anadilinga Dandeshwar (Lord Shiva) also worshipped within the complex.

The temple’s daily timings are from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and again from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, accommodating pilgrims who seek darshan or wish to participate in the daily rituals and aarti. Free darshan is available to all visitors.

Poojas and rituals are conducted in Bengali and Sanskrit, reflecting the local culture and traditions. The temple observes a modest dress code: men are encouraged to wear traditional attire such as dhotis, kurtas, or trousers, while women are advised to wear sarees or salwar kameez.

Festivals are a vibrant part of temple life, with major celebrations during Durga Puja and Kali Puja in September-October, as well as Basanti Puja in March-April. During these times, the temple comes alive with community feasts and special rituals.

One can take a train from Howrah Junction to Midnapore (MDN) or Bhadutala, or drive via NH-16 and NH-14 to Midnapore. From Midnapore town, the temple is about 12 km north and can be accessed by auto-rickshaw, taxi, or local bus via Bhadutala.

The nearest railway stations are Bhadutala (6 km) and Midnapore (12 km), while the closest airport is Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, approximately 140 km away.
