Thanthania Kalibari

This Bengali (Chala) style temple stands as a vibrant pilgrimage centre and village temple, drawing devotees and visitors seeking spiritual solace and blessings from the presiding deity, as well as from Lord Shiva, worshipped here as Pushpeswar Shiva.

Founded by Uday Narayan Brahmachari in 1703 and later rebuilt by Shankar Ghosh between 1803 and 1806 during the British colonial era, Thanthania Kalibari is recognized as a living heritage temple managed by a local trust.

The temple is especially popular during major festivals such as Kali Puja (Shyama Puja/Diwali) in October–November, Phalaharini Amavasya in May–June, Kaushiki Amavasya in August–September, and on every new moon night (Amavasya), when the spiritual atmosphere is at its peak.

Devotees can participate in daily rituals, with Morning Aarti at 7:00 AM and Evening Aarti (Sandhya Aarti) at 7:00 PM. Darshan is free for all, and prayers are conducted in Sanskrit, Bengali, Hindi, and English, making the temple accessible to a wide range of pilgrims.
