About

Goravanahalli Mahalakshmi Temple, often referred to as “Karnataka’s Kolhapur Lakshmi,” is a revered pilgrimage centre located near the Theetha Reservoir in Goravanahalli village, Tumakuru district, Karnataka.

This ancient temple, recognized as a living heritage temple, is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, with other deities such as Marikamba, Manchala Nagappa, and the Navagrahas also worshipped here.

The temple’s architecture is a blend of mixed and renovated styles, reflecting its modern yet historically significant development, which was discovered by Abbayya, developed by Thotadappa, and revived by Kamalamma between 1925 and 1952.

Pilgrims visiting the Goravanahalli Mahalakshmi Temple can participate in a variety of poojas and sevas. The daily schedule includes Abhisheka & Kumkumarchane from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by Maha Mangalarathi at 9:30 AM, 12:30 PM, and 7:30 PM.

Special rituals such as Mahalakshmi Homa, Shashvatha Pooja, Chandi Homa, Panchamruta Abhisheka Seva, Tulabhara Seva, and Akshara Abhyasa Seva are also conducted, with all poojas performed in Kannada.

The temple is open for darshan from 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, with both free darshan and a special darshan option available for a nominal fee of ₹50. The best time to visit is during the early morning hours between 5:00 AM and 8:00 AM, or during the festival season.

Major festivals celebrated at the temple include Lakshadeepotsava in October–November (Karthika Maasa), Varamahalakshmi Festival, Lakshmi Puja, Vaikuntha Ekadashi, and Brahmotsavam. Devotees are advised to wear modest, traditional attire.
