About

Lakshmi Devi Temple Doddagaddavalli is an ancient pilgrimage centre located in the serene village of Doddagaddavalli, in Hassan district, Karnataka.

Revered as one of the earliest examples of Hoysala architecture, this temple stands as a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

The temple is also locally known by names such as Lakshmi Devi Temple, Dakshina Kolhapuradamma, Abhinava Kollapura, and Brother-Sister Temple, reflecting its deep cultural and spiritual significance in the region.

Dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti (Amman), the temple also houses shrines for Bhoothanatha Linga (Shiva), Shantaswarupa Kali, Vishnu, Kalabhairava, and Bhairava. The sanctum’s tranquil atmosphere invites devotees and visitors seeking darshan and spiritual solace.

The temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with the best time to visit being early morning between 5:00 and 8:00 AM or during the pleasant winter months from November to February.

Devotees can participate in various poojas conducted in Kannada, including the Morning Pooja & Harathi for Kali at 6:30 AM, Evening Harathi at 7:40 PM, and the Daily Archana for Mahalakshmi. Entry for darshan is free, allowing all pilgrims to experience the temple’s spiritual ambiance.

The temple observes important festivals such as Dasara (Dussera) in September-October and special Friday Worship (Shukravar) every week, drawing devotees from across the region.

For those planning a visit, modest and traditional attire is recommended for both men and women; shorts, tank tops, and short skirts should be avoided. Prasadam, including coconut and sacred offerings, is available to visitors, though there is no regular annadanam facility.
