Renowned for its Dravidian architecture and deep-rooted spiritual significance, Hasanamba Temple stands as a living heritage temple with origins tracing back to the Chola period, and is attributed to the Hoysala dynasty of the 12th century CE, with some accounts mentioning Krishnappa Nayaka.

What sets Hasanamba Temple apart is its unique opening schedule. The temple is accessible to devotees only during Deepavali, typically for about 10 to 13 days each year, with timings from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

This limited window makes darshan during the festival season especially significant, drawing pilgrims from across Karnataka and beyond. Early morning visits, between 5:00 and 8:00 AM, are considered the best time for a peaceful darshan experience.

Devotees can opt for free darshan, special darshan (₹300), or VIP darshan (₹1000), depending on their preference. Poojas and rituals are conducted in Kannada, beginning with the morning pooja and aarati at 6:00 AM, followed by archana and sevas from 7:30 AM onwards.

Special archana and sevas are also performed during the festival period. Traditional prasadam is offered to all visitors, and annadanam (free food) is arranged by the district administration and volunteers during the temple’s open days.

A unique tradition involves a rice offering left with the deity, which is found fresh upon reopening the temple each year.

The temple enforces a strict dress code: men are advised to wear traditional attire such as dhoti and kurta, while women should opt for sarees, churidars, or other traditional wear. Western or revealing clothes are not permitted.

Photography and the use of mobile phones or cameras are strictly prohibited inside the main temple area and sanctum sanctorum. Reaching Hasanamba Temple is convenient. From Bangalore, take NH75 directly to Hassan (approximately 182–187 km, 3–4 hours).

The temple is 1–2 km from the Hassan KSRTC Bus Stand and about 2–3 km from Hassan Junction Railway Station, both easily accessible by auto-rickshaw. The nearest airports are Mangalore International Airport (165 km) and Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore (195 km).

Parking is available but limited during the festival, so visitors are advised to park in Hassan town and take an auto-rickshaw to the temple.
