About

Dev Prayag Temple Unnao, also known locally as Raghunathji Temple, Raghunath Temple, Tirukantamenum Kadi Nagar, and Thirukkandam, stands as a revered pilgrimage centre along the riverbank in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.

This ancient temple, recognized as a Divya Desam, is dedicated primarily to Lord Rama, with sanctums also for Sita, Lakshmi, Vishnu (Badrinath), Adi Shankaracharya, Shiva, and Hanuman, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan and blessings from multiple deities.

The temple is celebrated for its Nagara (North Indian) architectural style and is considered a living heritage temple.

Established around the 8th century by Adi Shankaracharya and later reconstructed by the Garhwal Kings, Dev Prayag Temple Unnao is set amidst the scenic confluence of rivers, with the famed Devprayag Sangam just steps away.

Pilgrims are drawn to its tranquil setting and the spiritual energy that pervades the temple complex. Devotees can participate in daily puja rituals and archana, with archana performed after 4:00 PM.

All rituals are conducted in Sanskrit and Hindi, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of visitors. Offerings made to Lord Raghunathji are distributed as Prasad, allowing devotees to partake in the temple’s sacred traditions.

The temple welcomes visitors for free darshan, making it accessible to all. The temple is open from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

The best time to visit is during the winter months (November to February), particularly in the morning (8 AM–12 PM), during evening aarti, or throughout the vibrant festival season.

Major festivals celebrated here include Rath Yatra, Diwali/Kartik Poornima in October-November, and the Badrinath Opening/Closing rituals in winter. For those planning a visit, modest and traditional attire is advised for both men and women.

Reaching the temple is convenient: take a train to Rishikesh or Haridwar, then travel by taxi or bus via National Highway 58 to Devprayag.

Rishikesh Railway Station is about 72 km away, Haridwar Railway Junction is 93 km away, and Dehradun Airport (Jolly Grant) is approximately 112 km from the temple. Parking facilities and easy road access make the journey comfortable.

Accommodation options include guest houses, private hotels, and ashrams in Devprayag town and along the Rishikesh-Devprayag road. Nearby attractions such as the Devprayag Sangam, suspension bridges, Rishikesh, and Haridwar add to the pilgrimage experience. Photography is permitted in public areas, allowing visitors to capture the serene beauty of this sacred site.
