About

Bhairabi Temple Paralakhemundi, also known locally as Maa Siddha Bhairavi Temple or Bhairabi Temple Mantridi, is a revered Shakti Peetha and pilgrimage centre situated in the village of Mantridi, Gajapati district, Odisha.

Dedicated to Goddess Shakti, the temple is a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan and blessings from the powerful deity. The temple stands as a fine example of Kalinga architecture, reflecting the region’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

The temple is open for darshan from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and again from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, allowing devotees ample time to participate in rituals and seek the goddess’s grace. Free darshan is available for a nominal fee of INR 2, making it accessible to all pilgrims.

Daily rituals and archana are performed in both Sanskrit and Odia, with special Tantric and Vedic pujas held on Tuesdays and Sankranti, drawing devotees from across Odisha and neighboring states.

The temple comes alive during major festivals such as Dussehra (Shardiya Navaratri) in September-October, Makar Sankranti in January, and Maa Bhairavi Jayanti in December, when large-scale annadanam and vibrant celebrations take place.

For visitors, the temple maintains a traditional dress code: men are encouraged to wear full-length trousers or pants with a shirt or kurta, while women should opt for sarees, salwar kameez, or other modest Indian attire.

Shorts and sleeveless clothing are discouraged, ensuring the sanctity of the temple environment. Reaching Bhairabi Temple Paralakhemundi is convenient. The nearest major railway station is Brahmapur (BAM), located 18 km away, with Palasa Railway Station (PSA) 40 km distant.

From Brahmapur, pilgrims can travel by taxi, auto-rickshaw, or bus via Golantra-Biswanathpur Road to Mantridi village. The nearest airports are Visakhapatnam Airport (VTZ) at 150 km and Biju Patnaik International Airport (BBI) at 280 km.

Basic open-air parking is available near the temple, though visitors should be prepared for steps and crowds, especially during festivals. For accommodation, hotels and inspection bungalows are available in Paralakhemundi town, while Brahmapur offers more upscale options.

Pilgrims can also explore nearby attractions such as Gajapati Palace, Nilakantheswara Temple, Padma Sambhava Maha Vihara Monastery, and Khasada Waterfall, adding a cultural dimension to their visit.

Traditional dry and sweet prasadam is distributed to devotees, with large-scale annadanam organized during major festivals. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the sanctum sanctorum, but may be permitted in the outer temple complex. The best time to visit is during winter, early mornings, or the vibrant festival season for a truly enriching spiritual experience.
