About

Bedi Hanuman Temple, also known locally as Daria Mahavir Temple and Chained Hanuman, is a revered seaside temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman in Puri, Odisha.

Situated along Chakra Tirtha Road, this pilgrimage centre stands close to the Puri Sea Beach, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees and travelers seeking blessings and tranquility by the Bay of Bengal.

The temple is easily accessible, located just about 1.5 km from Puri Railway Station, with convenient auto-rickshaw and taxi options available for visitors. For those arriving by air, Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar is the nearest airport, connecting Puri to major Indian cities.

The temple’s architecture follows the distinct Kalinga style, reflecting the rich heritage of Odisha. As a living heritage temple, Bedi Hanuman Temple welcomes devotees of Lord Hanuman, along with worshippers of Anjana, Lord Ganesha, and various female divinities.

The temple is renowned for its daily puja and aarti rituals, including the Sandhya Alati, conducted in Sanskrit and Odia. Devotees can participate in free darshan, with a nominal entry fee of INR 5.

The temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the best times to visit being early morning (5–8 AM), during the evening aarti, or in the winter months from November to February.

Visitors are advised to follow the temple’s dress code: men should wear traditional or formal conservative Indian attire such as dhotis, kurtas, or neat trousers and shirts, while women are expected to wear sarees, salwar kameez, or modest long kurtis.

Bedi Hanuman Temple is especially vibrant during festivals such as Hanuman Jayanti in April (Chaitra), Rama Navami in March–April, and Pana Sankranti (Maha Bishuba Sankranti) in mid-April. During these times, the temple comes alive with special rituals and increased footfall from devotees.

For those seeking prasadam, laddoo is the main offering, with small prasad or sweets distributed to visitors. While there is no large-scale daily annadanam, the temple ensures that devotees can partake in the sacred offerings.

Photography is permitted in the outer premises and exterior areas, but is restricted or discouraged within the inner sanctum. Accommodation options are plentiful along Chakra Tirtha Road and near Puri Sea Beach, with numerous hotels, guesthouses, and lodges available for pilgrims.

Parking is available on the street and in informal open spaces nearby, though dedicated parking is limited. Visitors should note that steps at the entrance may pose challenges for wheelchair access.

Nearby attractions include the Chakranarayan Temple and the famous Jagannath Temple, allowing pilgrims to enrich their spiritual journey in Puri. For further information, visitors may contact the temple at +91-8554828495.
