Triprangode Siva Temple

Set along the riverbank, this temple is renowned for its Kerala-style architecture and its rich heritage, tracing its origins to the Chola period.

The temple was built by the later Chera kings and subsequently expanded by the Kingdom of Tanur and the Zamorins of Calicut, making it a living heritage temple managed by a panchayat/local trust.

The primary deity worshipped here is Lord Shiva, also locally known as Triprangottappan, Angot Tapan, Mitunjan, and Triprangode Siva Kshetram.

The temple also enshrines several other deities including Goddess Parvati, Lord Vishnu (Nava Mukunda), Lord Ganesha, Lord Ayyappa, Goddess Bhadrakali, Vettakkorumakan, Nagadevathas, Brahmarakshasa, and Lord Krishna (Goshala Krishnan), making it a spiritually vibrant destination for devotees.

Darshan at Triprangode Siva Temple is free for all visitors. The temple is open for darshan and pooja from 4:30 AM to 11:30 AM and again from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

The best times to visit are during the early morning hours (5–8 AM), morning (8 AM–12 PM), evening aarti, and especially in the winter months from November to February or during the festival season.

Major festivals celebrated here include Maha Shivaratri (February–March) and the Thiruvathira/Annual Arattu Festival (December–January).

A variety of poojas are performed in both Sanskrit and Malayalam, such as Pushpanjali, Dhara, Ayursooktha Pushpanjali, Sankabhishekam, Mruthyunjaya Homam, Palpayasam, Oru Divasathe Pooja, Viseshal Niramala (Karanathil Sivan), and Sayanapradakshinam, with offerings starting from as low as ₹10.

Prasadam includes sacred ghee, vibhuti, theertham, and payasam, while annadanam is offered during festivals in the Annadhana Koodam.

Devotees are required to follow a traditional dress code: men must wear a mundu or dhoti and remove upper garments before entering the inner sanctum, while women should wear saree, half-saree with blouse, or conservative salwar kameez/churidar.

Reaching the temple is convenient, with Thirunavaya Railway Station just 5 km away and Tirur Railway Station 10 km away. Calicut International Airport is 47 km from the temple.

Visitors can arrive at Tirur or Thirunavaya by train or Calicut International Airport by air, and then take a local bus, auto-rickshaw, or taxi to the temple. There is a dedicated, spacious parking ground outside the main entrance, which is generally free and accessible.
