Thirumandhamkunnu Bhagavathy Temple

Dedicated primarily to Goddess Shakti (Amman), the temple also houses shrines for Lord Shiva, Unni Ganapathi (Lord Ganesha), Saptha Matrikas, and Veerabhadra, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking blessings from multiple deities.

Reflecting the classic Kerala architectural style, the temple is perched atop a hill, offering a serene and spiritual ambiance. The temple is recognized as a living heritage site and is managed by a local trust.

It is historically patronized by the Valluvanad rulers and local chieftains, with its origins shrouded in mystery. Devotees can visit the temple for darshan during the timings of 4:30 AM to 11:30 AM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Free darshan is available to all visitors.

The best time to visit is during the early morning hours (5–8 AM), morning (8 AM–12 PM), festival seasons, or the winter months from November to February.

A range of daily poojas are performed, including Usha Pooja at 6:00 AM, Pantheeradi Pooja at 9:30 AM, Ucha Pooja at 11:30 AM, Thirinju Pantheeradi Pooja at 4:30 PM, and Athazha Pooja at 8:00 PM.

Special poojas such as Mangalya Pooja (Tuesdays, Fridays, Sundays around 9:00–9:30 AM), Mahaganapathi Homam, Mruthyunjaya Homam, Rudrabhishekam, and Kalabham are also available, with specific charges. Rituals are conducted in Sanskrit, Malayalam, and English, catering to a diverse group of devotees.

The temple observes several vibrant festivals, including Thirumandhamkunnu Pooram (March–April), Kalampattu (November–March), Chanthattam (June 15 – August 15), Njaralathu Sangeetholsavam (February 16 onwards for five days), and Attanga Eru & Nirama festival segments.

Strict dress codes are enforced: men must wear traditional dhoti or mundu and enter bare-chested, while women are required to wear saree, half-saree, or salwar kameez/churidar with dupatta.

Photography, video recording, and use of mobile phones or smartwatches are strictly prohibited inside the premises. Reaching the temple is convenient. From Kozhikode or Palakkad, take NH 966 to Angadipuram, then proceed to Perinthalmanna, which is 3–4 km from the temple.

Local autos, taxis, or buses are available to the Angadipuram/Thirumandhamkunnu bus stop, just 500 meters from the entrance. Angadipuram Railway Station is 2 km away, and Calicut International Airport is 41 km from the temple.
