Tarakeshwara Temple Hangal

Dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva, the temple also houses shrines for other deities such as Nandi, Ganesha, Vishnu, Brahma, Kartikeya, Chamunda, Ugra Narasimha, Bhairava, Parvati, and Sandigeshwara, making it a significant spiritual destination for devotees seeking darshan of multiple Hindu gods.

The temple is celebrated for its Vesara architectural style, with its foundation laid by the Kadambas of Banavasi and major construction attributed to the Kalyana Chalukyas.

Poojas are conducted in Kannada and Sanskrit, and the best times to visit include the winter months from November to February, during the festival season, early mornings between 5–8 AM, or during the evening aarti.

Maha Shivaratri, held in February or March, is a notable festival celebrated at the temple, when visitors may also receive bhasma or flowers if a priest is present, as there are no regular prasadam or annadanam counters.
