About

Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple Hamsaladeevi is a revered ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, situated in the tranquil village of Hamsaladeevi in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

Also known locally as the Hamsaladeevi Vishnu Shrine and Swan Island, this temple stands out as a significant pilgrimage centre, gracing the confluence where the Krishna River meets the Bay of Bengal near Sagara Sangamam in the Diviseema region.

The temple’s architecture follows the classic Dravidian style, reflecting the heritage of the Eastern Chalukyas who built it.

The main sanctum enshrines Lord Venugopala Swamy, a form of Vishnu, and is flanked by other deities including Rukmini, Satyabhama, Janardhana Swamy, Rajyalakshmi, and Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy.

The temple is renowned for its peaceful riverbank and seaside setting, making it a unique destination for devotees seeking spiritual solace and natural beauty. Darshan at Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple is available through free entry, allowing devotees to experience the divine presence without any fee.

The temple opens its doors from 6:30 AM to 12:30 PM and again from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM, providing ample opportunity for pilgrims to participate in rituals and seek blessings. Daily poojas such as Archana and Abhishekam are performed in Telugu and Sanskrit, enriching the devotional atmosphere.

Standard prasadam, including pulihora or sweets, is distributed after poojas, and Annadanam (free food) is organized during major festivals like Magha Pournami.

The temple celebrates several vibrant festivals throughout the year, including Magha Pournami in February, Krishna Janmashtami in August, Ugadi during March/April, Karthika Masam in October/November, and Vaikuntha Ekadasi in December/January.

The best time to visit is during winter, the festival season, annual brahmotsavam, or evening aarti time, when the temple is especially lively.

To reach Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple, pilgrims can travel by train or bus to Vijayawada or Machilipatnam, proceed to Avanigadda, and then take a share-auto or private vehicle to Hamsaladeevi village.

Basic accommodation is available in nearby towns like Avanigadda and Machilipatnam, with limited options in the village itself. Informal open parking is accessible for cars, auto-rickshaws, and two-wheelers near the temple approach roads.

Visitors are required to adhere to a traditional dress code: men should wear dhoti or clean trousers with a shirt, while women are expected to wear saree, half-saree, or salwar kameez with dupatta.

Photography is strictly prohibited near the main deity and inner sanctum, though casual photos of the outer courtyard may be permitted after checking with temple authorities. For more details, devotees can visit the official website or contact the temple directly.
